I don't think people watched the show to validate their feelings that Bush was actually bad. The show is is more about the media than it is about who is in power, and as long as the media continues to be a completely fucked up cess pool, there will be plenty of material to work with.

I actually think that Colbert will be funnier under Obama than The Daily Show. I think The Daily Show peaked about a year or two ago. The Daily Show studio audience has become a more partisan audience and there was a widely circulated clip of Stewart making an Obama joke and the audience not responding at all, with Stewart countering, "It's OK to laugh at him." I think it will take some time for Stewart's audience both at home and in the studio to believe that. TDS is funniest when it is both funny and a little savage. Maybe with Clinton as SecState, there will be enough internal tension to poke fun, but the writing staff needs some angle that has not yet appeared. If new legislators refuse to do on "Better Know a District" then there might be a hiccup. Colbert actually does a lot of non-political stuff on his show. He'll be OK.

Agreed. Colbert now has a machine at which to rage for political points.

2 Our biggest problem is that the owner (Dolan) has historically been a moron about staffing and supervising the Knicks' front office. But it looks like he's seen the light now--we have a good GM and coach, and Dolan is willing to spend what it takes. We'll see....
