Why can't he just wait another 15 minutes to get baked at home?
My guess is that he's bored, can't take the class much more than he already has, and has nothing else to do with that bit of time. Most stoners of my aquaintance could give a crap about how obvious it is.

Is the water heater old? Old water heaters can be a real energy hog. Should be less than $1000 to replace it.

A lot of electric cos. offer energy audits. They scope out things like this. And they're usually free, other than your time. It might be worth having one if you can't figure out the problem.

two sons. if she is only doing 1 a day, she is using paper plates, or feeding them frozen dinners.

D. do you have that reduced costs option, where they can decrease your energy first in a "higher demand than supply" situation?

We get a 30% fee reduction by giiving them that option. the option only comes up in extreme heat in the summer, and then hardly ever.

There are also companies that will audit the utility, and then take a percentage of whatever savings you realize. Before going that route, however, I wanted to check other possibilities. It just can't be that my energy usage has more than doubled over the last two years. I didn't see an audit offer on the website, but I'll look again.

The guy from the newspaper is all over it, though! Perhaps he will shame the utility company (NE Utilities) into determining what's causing the problem, instead of telling me to talk to the hand.

Have you checked to see if the rate per kilowatt hour has gone up? It may not be the usage. My electric company has online records of both my bills and my electrical usage. The bills have consistently gone up over the last six and a half years; the usage is more or less the same.

They'd boarded up the house, and tried to hide what they were doing in there. I used to walk by with my dogs almost every night, and occassionaly, I'd try to peek through the boards to see what was going on there (my neighborhood has very, very few boarded up houses). When I found out later that it had been under surveillance for a few weeks before the bust, I got a little nervous that someone would think I was involved, because of assumptions about women whose dogs have dreadlocks down to the ground. So far, no narc cops have busted through my door, though.

this is a good point. dtb. are your neighbors slutty? you get a couple of these women blowing the meter readers to cut their readings down, and the meter reader has to bill the electricity somewhere. maybe its just that simple. next time he comes by check his jeans for stains.

Dean Venture, at the very least.

My bill is over $300, and I know it is because of the crapped-out fridge in the basement that is always running when I go down to get a beer out of it. But I can't get rid if it - it's the beer fridge. It has nothing but beer in it. My beer. Nothing else.

The beer fridge means more to me than mere money.

Your problem is bottles. You need to put a keg in that fridge. And run the tap through the door. No more opening the fridge multiple times per day, leading to much energy savings. Also, much less packaging waste. It's the green thing to do.

Happy to be doing my part to save the Earth.
