4 Fargo is funnier than about 10 of these. Of course the laughs are at the expense of minnesotians, but fuck them.
5 Ghostbuster and NLV are not funnier than TBL.

What about Sean of the Dead?
South Park can suck it.
Happy, Texas.

The problem with lists like this is that so very few people have decent taste.

Various thoughts on the bowls so far.
 * Shame that USC decided to lay an egg at Oregon State this year, because they're now playing as well as anyone in the country. Felt like they could've made it 100-34 against Penn State if they hadn't taken the foot off the gas at halftime.

 * I meant Southern Cal up above, not South Carolina, of course. USC of the South got their brains beat in by some cornfed kids from the Midwest. Time for the ol' Ballcoach to start anew with spring practice.

 * UGA's win was a microcosm of their season, I thought. Offense futzes around for a half or so, then get their act together and (if their opponents weren't world-beaters) win the friggin' thing. You can do that about 10 games a year, but not against the really good teams. (Sorry, Hank.)

 * I'm pulling generally for ACC teams this year, but I must admit that I have a soft spot for Cincinnatti in tonight's Orange Bowl. I can't get enough of the announcers' repeated descriptions of UC as that scrappy team with that outstanding young coach, whatsisname. Sounds like a good squad.

				It's official

It's actually been official for a while:
The North Face is the new Columbia.

I guess you stop being a world-class winter outerwear manufacturer when every member of the petite bourgeoisie buys your stuff.

Clearly, I distinguish myself from these subhumans by wearing Mountain Hardwear.

Is Columbia the Swatch of outerwear? Well, I'm surely not going to wear the overpriced Arc'teryx.

 | our austrian exchange student wore this.

we thought him tres unique! until we saw pictures from home that all of his friends wore the same jacket.*

*Ty Slothrop disclaimer- we only saw 8 other austrians wearing it and there must be millions of Austrians, so really we don't know the coat is that common.

Stil Coltrane, this will make you even more Euro-trashy.

 | Penn State couldn't hope to cover USC's receivers. They were also freezing cold. They hit their season average in penalties in the first ten minutes.

The only consolation I saw was no Big Ten team could have come close to USC. Ohio State would have been crushed. It's just two different classes of football. Any team as fast as USC should never be in a bowl with a Big Ten team. Ever. It'll be a mistmatch every time.

 3. BEVERLY HILLS COP (1984)
 2. NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION (1983)
 1. GHOSTBUSTERS (1984)

 Take out the following:

 Clueless
40 Year Old Virgin (barely laughed)
Wedding Crashers (funny for 15 minutes)
South Park (was funny when it came out, but not really that funny anymore)

Some of these were funny at the time, but aren't quite as funny anymore:

There's Something about Mary (FRANKS AND BEANS!)
Austin Powers (I have to admit, I enjoyed it when I first saw it)

These movies need to be on the list:

 The Royal Tennenbaums
 Bottle Rocket
 Rushmore
 Raising Arizona
 The Princess Bride
 Revenge of the Nerds

 My top five would be:

 (1) The Big Lebowski
 (2) Office Space
 (3) Trading Places
 (4) Rushmore
 (5) The Royal Tennenbaums
 | I still think the South Park movie is funny, and it was brilliant at the time. As stated previously, The Princess Bride is a fine movie, but not a laugh-out-loud comedy. While I enjoyed The Royal Tennenbaums, I can't put a movie with such a realistic suicide scene and an all-encompassing feeling of melancholy on a list of the funniest movies of the past 25 years. The 40 Year-Old Virgin arguably belongs on the list merely for the "You know how I know you're gay?" scene. Austin Powers Original Recipe should probably make the list, but the banality of the catchphrase-heavy sequels could overwhelm the case for the first one. I think I have A Fish Called Wanda on my Tivo. I think I need to rewatch it before making a Top Five list. I would add Kicking and Screaming (the Noah Baumbach film about graduating college and doing nothing, not the Will Ferrell vehicle about kid soccer) to the list.

I agree with Lebowski first and Office Space second, regardless.
