I have said this before and realize it's an unpopular opinion, but anyone who remembers Clerks as a funny movie never watched it a second time. I hold no grudge against someone who watches it once and says "I laughed," because I did, but a second viewing of that movie is just intolerable. Ditto Better Off Dead. Maybe a second viewing when it's still 1985 and you're still on dope and in high school, but today, in 2009? You couldn't pay me to watch it. I'll quote it from memory, but I'll never want to watch it again. So it's in the same category as Clerks -- quotable doesn't equal funniest.

A good test is, would I pay $30 to get it on Blu-Ray? Many things on people's list, the answer is yes, but not Elf, not Clerks, not Better Off Dead.

I remember Clerks as a funny movie and I have watched it more than twice. Then again, I like exchanges like "My girlfriend sucked 37 cocks!" "Dude -- in a row?"

I don't have a Blu-Ray player and I wouldn't spend $30 on Clerks if I did, but that's more because I don't see the point in buying movies anymore, with Netflix and now Netflix OnDemand so easy and cheap. I do have a Clerks DVD from some time ago, can't remember what it cost.

Apparently, I don't exist, at least in your opinion.

Wrong. Airplane is number 11 on my list. And I agonized over Naked Gun, but someone has to lose.

I'm with you one hundred and seventy five percent! Although in my wourld, when everything is no longer black and white, I find a stunning rainbow of colours.

It's . . . . . . beautiful. <sniff>

As we electronic communicate through this chatting board, my feet are already up, cuban lit, and a glass of 40 yo Taylor Fladgate tawny in hand. And, its not even tea time. In........Holland. 4.20!...........

Love Big and Splash. But they don't make my top 25.

Yes on the fake bird call scene and infamous. But the best part of the movie is when El Guapo asks if he's getting a plethora of gifts. I also like this part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8NQ6_5J7bc

And Roxanne is a great movie, but it's more of a romantic comedy, a genre which I don't think made many lists.

I was with you until you started shitting on Better Off Dead. Love that movie. It's hard to say how much is related to nostaligia, but I could watch that movie many times. A Japanese guy who learned English by watching Howard Cosell exclusively? That's gold, Jerry!

(Clerks fucking sucks.)

General announcement and warning

For any of you who chat with me on IM on occasion, you may be surprised to hear from me sometime soon. It will surprise you that I am such a slow typist, that I have suddenly become enamored of lots of extraneous punctuation and that I make such atrocious spelling errors.

Don't be alarmed! Most likely, it is my 6-year-old son who has taken to sitting at my computer if I'm not there and starting up chats.

He ran downstairs today when I got home and said, "Mama! Good news! I'm finally talking to someone on your computer!" I said, "Oh? Who is that?" (It was sebby.)

His older brother said, "But you don't even know him!", which protest was met with "I DON'T CARE!!!"

I then explained (by IM) to Sebby what had happened (i.e., that it was my 6-y-o), and my 6-y-o was furious!

So, if you're ever in doubt, and are wondering if it's truly me, I'll have to utter the password, which will be... um... PINTO.

No one will ever crack that code!

ETA: But please, keep it clean.

I'd be more worried about what Sebby shared with your 6yo.

I think it's brilliant! What an idea! And I was there! He took the idea! He saw it ripe on the tree, he plucked it, and he put it in his pocket. It's, it's, dare I say... genius? Ah, no, no! But maybe, ooh! ah! maybe it is! Maybe I'm in the presence of greatness, maybe I just don't know it. But I saw it...
