I've never understood this reasoning. The Superbowl is consistently the top watched television event of the year every year. Every other television even would kill to have it's bad-year ratings. If the NFL/NBC doesn't sell as many ads this year, it's because of the economy, not because Arizona is playing Baltimore. People are going to watch, regardless.
Sure it's not the narrative that was scripted at the beginning of the season, but then the people who care about that sort of crap had their seasons killed in week one when Tom Brady went out. Those are the sort of people who listen to people like fucking TO instead of actually paying attention to Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson.
And it's not like Arizona didn't have the best recievers in the NFC. Or Pittsburgh and the Ravens down have the best defenses. Or Philly, er... can't pull something out of their asses when they absolutely need to.
I personally am sort of hoping for a Pennsylvania Superbowl, but I'd be happy to see any of the NFC meet up with any of the AFC, and I suspect that the Conference Championships are going to be awesome.
