I wish the legislature would think more strategically about such things.

Have a big bottle of Chimay at lunch tomorrow and tell me how the afternoon goes.
BTW, Larry Bell is making a killing off me this week. This year's Hopslam just came out and it's fantastic. At this rate, I'm going to be 400lbs come summer, but the stuff is just addictive. I feel like I have to make a pilgrimage up there to meet the man.

I've told this story probably. My old firm had an office in Kzoo. I was there quite a bit.
Larry Bell at one point was not unlike us. He had a degree in something that didn't lead to a job. Where he went different is instead of law school he started making beer. I was at his place, you walk up and dozens of guys were hustling kegs out to trucks- read He is making big bucks.
In the tasting room/pub, there is the great man pulling people their beers and talking shit. Although, if you want to find a flaw, drinking that much beer for your job might raise weight issues, so we have that over him.
My kid is going to school in Kzoo so I'll be back there. I'll get you his autograph.

I don't recommend making Hopslam your last beer of the night. I saw Tweedy (acoustic) a few weeks ago, and had drinks before, during and after the show. Drank a Hopslam at 12:30 AM (late for me...I'm getting old), and walked home immediately after. I also apparently borrowed a Hopslam glass from the bar, so maybe I'm not getting old.
In any event, my head hurt the next day.
But it's a phenomenal beer. Frankly, I'd like it more if it weren't 10% ABV. That's just too strong for a beer that tastes that good.

Try Sierra Nevada's new Torpedo. 7.2% double IPA. Half the price of Hopslam and about 3/4 as good. Best bargain around.
Another good one I found is Thirsty Dog Siberian Night Imperial Stout. 10% serious Russian stout for $35 a case. Good shit. Chocolately.

Another Music Post
You can (and should) listen to Neko Case's new album, which is streaming on npr.org.
It's not reggae, but it's good. Feel free to drink a beer or two while you listen.
Of course, Neko Case could sing the phone book and keep my interest.

This fall, I was in a race where I spent about five of the last six miles passing and being passed by a woman on the Bell's Beer team. Everytime she passed, all I could think of was how much I would like to have a beer. It was distracting. Then, with about a mile to go, she pulled away for the last time. So, um, yeah -- I got beaten by a chick. Happens all the time. But she was a fast chick sponsored by an excellent beer, so I was cool with it.

For one of your constitution, I recommend the Oberon. Light, but a tad spicy, with an ever so subtle hint of apricot.

I checked out Bell's Brewery team site, and their jerseys feature the Oberon. Looks like the jerseys were designed by the chick who beat me.

I am not crazy about Oberon, but I drink it because I cannot handle the Demon Hop Ballcrusher Nuclear Hop Bomb beer, or whatever it is you real men drink. I can barely pick up the bottle, and when I try to actually drink it, I get dizzy and scared.

I hear they play Oberon on your local college radio station. Does that change your mind?

Yes. I love Oberon. In fact, I have an Oberon t-shirt from way back in the day, back before most people had even heard of beer.
