I feel your pain. I needed a new furnace last fall. But there was some consolation in a substantial increase in efficiency that saved much money during the coldest months (which I hope are soon behind me).

you mean for the short term, or do you see global warming really kicking in, or did you get some really bad medical news?

Short term. We had a taste of spring and now we're back in the 30s.

Last year, I was told that we had maybe one summer left on mine. Every time I look at the costs, I really wish the pecan tree had hit my bedroom instead of the neighbor's garage during the hurricane, because it would have squished the compressor too.

I have a very good client that makes ac units, so when you all do buy one, tell yourself, although admittedly a very circuitous path, it is possible your purchase will ultimately result in some money coming to LTs.

If the magazine Consumer Checkbook publishes issues for your city, I recommend getting the issue on furnace/AC installers. I got 4 or 5 bids, and the difference between the high bid and the low bid was almost $3,000. The low bid company was several hundred dollars less than the next lowest and had the best rating from the article.

I live in the richer D. suburbs. i grew up in the poorer ones. I got my AC and furnace from the company on the East (poor) side my parents used. their prices were 50% the West side companies- same equipment. WTTW.

I don't see the sexual connotation here. Does it have something to do with furnaces and heat?

Ratings were based on the "performance" of the "installers". Consumer Checkbook is obviously a magazine by and for lonely housewives.

Is Seņor Pizza the top-rated pizza delivery service?
