I haven't seen that. But did you see the Chairman on Dancing with the Stars? He has zero accent when he's not posturing for Iron Chef. He also strikes me as barely able to keep a straight face when he's overacting on Iron Chef these days.

Not religiously, but here and there. Similar to how I watch the Rachel Zoe Project or Flipping Out. I don't feel my understanding of the greater meaning of the show is materially compromised if a miss an episode or parts thereof.

He has no accent on Iron Chef either.

But I saw him on a SyFy made for TV movie once, which was weird.

We're watching. I haven't learned names yet. I'm guessing the Indian guy and the two Hispanics are going to kick ass. The bald southern guy annoys me, but apparently his food is good.

I saw him in the food court (ala Makai Market) at the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. I was tempted to grab an apple or something and make a big dramatic bite out of it in front of him, but sadly I was too drunk to stand.

Accent, affected manner of speaking, whatever. He sounds a lot different on Iron Chef than he does on the other show.

The only one whose food I have eaten is Holly smith, who is already gone. notwithstanding that, her Cafe Juanita is excellent dining.

Yes. It has already proven to me that Appleman is a jerk and a half. And maybe a douche as well.

I almost could not watch TCM because she is so horrific. Gah.

I'm watching too, though no one really stands out to me so far. I caught the middle of a marathon of the first season recently. It surprised me to see Michael Symon as a lowly contestant, but I'm relatively new to ICA.

Love both Kevin and Jen. The brothers make some interesting-looking food, but I most want to eat at Kevin's restaurant, and Jen is just completely awesome in a field that's so dominated by men (apparently batshit crazy men, at that).

I like Jen's voice, too. The voices I can't stand are the self-proclaimed trial lawyer and his aggrieved GF on TAR. They should have been kicked off weeks ago.

Oh, and re: voices, I would pay good money to listen to Joel Robuchon talk about anything -- hell, he could read the phone book. I replayed his comments from that Elimination Challenge on Top Chef about 14 times. Sitting 2 feet from the teevee. His food is out of this world, too.

Apparently I am too late to be cool. I want the search function so that I can start by reading posts that mention me.

Seems so half the time, and then he will give what appears to be more self-defacing, reasonable interviews. RT, I think Nate Appelman is the bald, southern guy to whom you refer. Formerly of A16 here in SF, now in NYC.

Did you see the episode(s) where Tom and Padma were there? And think, hey, if only they were on full time?
