 | Ok. Well, the first thing to know is that we're not really white -- most of us are more in the beige family. |

I was watching the Oregon UCLA volleyball game this weekend, and there were 6'5" women. I'm wondering if some of them were lesbians could they get dates easier, or are the really tall just in a world where it's tough to find dates, no matter the genitals they're attracted to,
 | I was called to answer this. So let's see. I can only tell you what I have observed.

It is interesting that people think it must be easier for women to date women than to date men if they are other than what we might consider traditionally attractive. I suppose this is because people think women are less about physical appearances. Some people will even say that a woman who is not typically attractive will choose to be with women because it will be easier. (Not that anyone here is saying that.)

The reality is that it isn't necessarily easier to date as a lesbian. First, women can be plenty picky about other women. They often want the same things that heterosexual men want. Personal ads will frequently read no butch women, no fat women, etc etc. Second, there are of course fewer lesbians from which to choose in the first place. Third in order to date the women have to figure out whether each other are lesbians which is often not the easiest thing in the world to do (though it is getting easier as more people are willing to come out.) This goes back to the second point, it is harder to find women to date in the first place.

I imagine a very tall woman would have similar problems in the lesbian community to those she would have in the straight community for all of the above reasons. As an athlete, just like in the straight community, she might have groupies which might give her more of a chance, I suppose. But in the end, she's simply going to have to find another very tall woman, or someone who likes really tall women, just as she would have to do if she were straight. |

 | I guess, framed now, the question is this- men have trouble with a woman several inches taller than them- does that go away when a woman looks at women? do the 6'' 4" women need to date the 6'4" women?

Some women don't want to date taller women, they might even have a preference for short women, for whatever reason. But I think most women don't mind dating someone taller. There might be a limit though. For example, I am too short to date a basketball player. Logistically speaking there would be problems. But I have dated women as much as 8 or 9 inches taller. |

I remain unconvinced (after all KISS had an army), but most of them are knuckleheads and/or chuckleheads and all of them have poor taste in music.
