Don't stress. I'm pretty sure that I resolved that "gilded sandals" = evening shoes of a substance not properly classifiable as "leather." God knows you can't wear them in the daytime, when you wear leather shoes, therefore they must be "other."
But we should check with Atticus, I guess, I'd hate to break his heart again.
