I run better in the winter than in the summer.

I do not consider what I do "track".

Nobody can post 15 meaningless posts in a row like Penske.

Ugh. Duke sucks.

The Gophers play them in the Battle for Atlantis on Thanksgiving Day, about which I wish I was more confident, but at least you can be an honorary Gopher fan.

Okay, this is taking helicopter parenting to an extreme level. The mailing list of the people who buy this thing will give you people with money to burn, and also abnormally obsessed with their pets (not the finder function, but the exercise tracking)

It's also going to be used by really fucking stupid people. My secretary has taken it upon herself to start a campaign to stop people from running their pets after watching two dogs pass out from heat stroke on a popular running trail in a one week period in September. One of the passed out dogs, a bulldog, ended up needing CPR.

People think because dogs "need exercise", their dogs can run three miles in 90 plus degree heat at the same pace as their people. They don't bother to check to see if the dog is panting or what their eyes look like, and their concern is more for getting their own run in than the dog's well being. And because dogs are people pleasers, they're not going to complain about the fact that they can't breathe/are over heated/are exhausted, and if they do falter, they just get their leash pulled on more.

If you think your dog needs exercise, take it to a dog park. Throw balls or let it play with other dogs or just sit there. Let it decide what its pace is. Make sure that there is plenty of water available, plenty of shade, and that it's not too hot.

that's the flip side of the theory that man's evolution is based upon persistence hunting. Our lack of fur lets us run longer that furred animals.

my dog is a rug until the UPS or FedEx guy comes to the door then he gets 5 intense minutes of exercise. luckily we order so much crap that he gets that workout at least one a day.

We use the two dog approach to exercise. We have two dogs, and they happily chase each other over, around, and sometimes through our furniture when we aren't home. They have only eaten one couch to date, but it's better than sleeping on it all day.

Of course, they also walk us periodically, and romp in the neighborhood with the construction workers, and now and then chase some bunnies. But I think it's the workout on the furniture that does them the most good.

On the other hand, maybe your secretary needs to mind her own business.
