I, too, am wondering about Wonk's recent transformation into a different-colored Fox, where the reaction to everything is "this shows how bad Obama is."

Probably the first time they passed appropriations for the CIA.

I missed that he had terminated the contract. I guess I was reading too fast, and these days, with me, fast equals sloppy. I cop to that error.
I lump him in on the torture because they are still force-feeding prisoners in Gitmo, or were until recently, because they still use sleep deprivation and sensory overload as interrogation techniques, and it really doesn't matter that it didn't start with him.
I keep harping Gitmo and the drones because, well, they are un-American. I don't hate Obama. I am disappointed in him. I suppose I expected too much to begin with. He has done an awful lot of good, and I voted for him happily in 2012, notwithstanding my objections.

Is force-feeding someone who is on hunger strike torture? I'm not sure.
It's certainly deeply unpleasant, from what I've read, but its not being used an an interrogation technique, I don't think.
But apparently some international groups do believe it's illegal.

I mean, we kind of knew that he tanked the case from the lack of indictment and his own description of the decidedly abnormal approach he took.
But this takes that cake. This woman sure looks like she was lying, and like the prosecutor knew or should have known that.

I am down on Obama because of: - I think he has been abysmal on civil liberties;
- I think he gave away too much in the bank bailout, but given his chief of staff was Rahm Emanuel, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised;
- that's about it.
I am happy with Obama because:
- He tried like health to put in comprehensive health care reform. Just the ban on preexisting conditions itself is worth both of his terms.
- I like what he's doing on immigration reform; and
- It took balls not to roll over on the shutdown.
I like the guy in general. He's a wonderful orator. I think there are a lot of things where he and I would be politically together in a more perfect world.
I suppose in the end, a big part of why I'm down on him is that he came in with so much promise and then failed to deliver. If I were to be honest with myself, I would say my biggest beef with him is that he was my hero and I am being harsher on him because I feel it personally. I'm sorry I have been overdoing it. I'll try not to be as big a pain in the ass.

How do you think you'd feel about him if it took a simple majority to get a law passed?
It's funny when I read articles about his low ratings. People on the left think he's a sell out for not being a raging liberal* he wasn't when he ran. People on the right obviously hate him because he's black and a democrat. People in the middle don't really like him because everyone in the news says no one likes him and people are generally stupid sheep who do and feel what they're told. And Democrats ran away from all of his and their own accomplishments.

Looks like I got here at exactly the right time. Hi! I've never ever visited this board, ever, but some of you may know me from the fashionable lawyers chatting board forum next door. Well, I quit that board for reasons I don't even want to get into. Also, I understand that you fucking vigilante bastards ran Hank out of this town on a rail. So, to keep equilibrium, I'm here now, and this is where I'll stay. Think of me as the new Hank, but less Hank-like than Hank. Anyhoo, what are we talking about, besides bowls of creamy dicks? Mmmm! I mean, yuck, totally gross, who would want that.

I don't know.
A lot of what bothers me would probably not have occurred. But he didn't need Congress to reign in the NSA, etc. Or to stop the predator program, which, if I recall correctly, he actually expanded from the Bush administration.
But there isn't anybody else out there who would do that, with the possible exception of Bernie Sanders, who even I will admit is completely unelectable. Bottom line, if I had the votes I made for him to cast over again, knowing what I know today, I would still have cast them for Obama, gladly.

Everyone wants a President who is a savior and anything less than perfect sucks.
The test ought to be: name a better President. Name someone less disappointing. If you can only name one or two in the last century, stop the whining.

I'd just wish he had turned about to be a little less conventional than advertised.
