Apropos of cars, I think we are getting rid of the miniature van. It's too much car. Looking at an MDX or maybe an Infiniti QX60 (although that thing is a beast too). If any of y'all have any experience with either of these (or the Highlander), let me know.

My parents have an MDX, which I've driven a bit. I really do not like it, as it's much to big for my taste. It's also a pain to park in the city. But my complaints are limited to size as it seems to be decent vehicle.
I also drove the Q when we were shopping for vehicle for the wife. I'd so do yourself a favor and go smaller.
Obviously, I have no kids, so, maybe that doesn't work for you, but a lot of the extra space in the MDX is in the cargo area and/or taken up by extra stuff in the passenger cabin. Tiguan might be too small for your family, but as far as interior passenger space, it does not feel smaller than a lot of physically bigger vehicles.
