Suntory makes a Yama-something that is nice.

I wish one could lease just the Nav system. My 12 year old car is just fine without all the electronics. But when I replace it and inevitably get one that has a Nav, I'm not looking forward to having features controlled in 2025 by a 2016 nav system.

Pull out a 10 year old laptop. . Let me know how the software updates allow it to perform in today's world.

Anyway, has the lease vs. buy discussion changed given potential technological advances? If I buy a car now is anyone going to want it in 2022? If we have self-driving cars in 10 years, maybe leasing is smarter?

That was the key reason why I leased the e-Golf instead of bought. I figure the batteries are going to keep improving.

They aren't exactly improving according to Moore's Law.

My Dell* notebook with Windows XP and Office 2003 works perfectly fine for me. But I'm not a professional or amateur graphic designer, movie editor, or Photoshop user, so YMMV.
* "Duuuuuude!" Ahem. I'm Not Sure if it's 10 years old, but it is pretty close.

That would be cool, but then our nav systems would feature dancing paper clips.

Bill's plan works for him, but if I were in that field I'd follow Donald Sutherland's advice- he would take every role offered. He knew he couldn't tell what was good or bad, but if he did massive amounts of films some had to be good. This may explain my posting BTW, nttawwt.

One of the enormous bits of freedom that comes with a good near-death experience is that you rethink how many fucks to give about certain things. And this is one of the areas where I just don't have fucks left to give. We should all be Bill Murray.
Earlier this year I decided that if I wasn't enjoying a client's work, I was going to fire them. I've fired a half dozen clients since then. It's really liberating. Everyone one of you should go out and fire your most pain in the neck client today.

no, but can the mods all go to the mod board? because this does really raise a good point about someone I think we all know should be kicked off the board.
