Been missing the Daily Dose? Don't answer, it's a rhetorical question! Here is some classic Sly. Poppy for the funk, but one of the best a cappella breakdowns out there. Dance To The Music:

Not to say there weren't some in politics with a unique combination of moral rot deep into their soul and an equally deep-set aversion to any work more onerous than lifting a glass. But that wasn't my set.
And yet one of the chief presidential campaign aides for Governor Michael "Michael" Dukakis (motto: "I'm not a robot, but I play one on TV when Bernie Shaw asks me what to do about my wife's hypothetical rapist") has been a Fox News commentator for some time, and is now leading the defense for Roger Ailes.

Seriously, GGG -- Michael Dukakis sounds like he is a wonderful person, but God help me, he was probably the worst Democratic presidential candidate of my lifetime.

But that's not why I logged in. No, today I found the answer to who to vote for in tomorrow's primary - I shall vote for the black city councilman, not for the Jewish kid who worked for the AG. Here's to Irish grudges!

Another retired politician with a long memory is Brian Murtaugh, 79, who showed up on a recent afternoon to support Mr. Jackson.

Mr. Murtaugh was a 16-year member of the Assembly, representing the 72nd District, when he was upset in a Democratic primary by Mr. Espaillat in 1996 — giving impetus to Mr. Espaillat’s political career.

Mr. Murtaugh is now helping organize support for Mr. Jackson and for Mr. Linares, the incumbent for the very seat that Mr. Murtaugh and Mr. Espaillat once held.

“It will be a blow to his prestige if his two candidates do not win,” Mr. Murtaugh said of Mr. Espaillat. He admitted that he took pleasure in stirring up the waters where his old rival is now the big fish.

“The Irish are noted for long memories,” he said. “Yeah, I enjoy it. I make his life uncomfortable and maybe defeat him in a couple of races? Oh absolutely.”

I have been abusing Susan Estrich on twitter. She was a self-serving shit then, and she's a self-serving shit now. If anyone ever wants to buy me drinks and ask me about Susan Estrich....

The Duke got eaten up and spat out in national politics, and lost a race he never should have, but it doesn't affect the point, which is that, contra Sebby, politics isn't just a cesspool full of shits. Again, not to say there aren't shits in the cesspool (Hello, Susan Estrich!), just that there's often a nice garden growing above.

One of the funner moments of my legal career was when I was writing a Supreme Court amicus brief for one set of industry players, and Susan Estrich was writing one for another set of players, and her clients read my brief and suggested that they all back my brief. Her name was on it too, for no good reason, but I was counsel of record. (And we won, 5-4.)

But I'll bet Estrich charged more for the project.

That does sound fun! Speaking of fun, you can't have funk without it. And this little number is nothing if not fun. And weird. Good old wigged-out dirty funk. "Mama Soul" from Harold Alexander is today's Daily Dose:

I got a good laugh out of Powell's e-mails. If all my old e-mails somehow become public, those will be some interesting days for me. It would be just the excuse I need to go off the grid and join a hippie mountain biking commune in Montana.

Here is some slow groove old funk from Mandrill. I cannot hear the beginning without hearing Chuck D's booming voice on By The Time I Get To Arizona. Today's Daily Dose is "Two Sister of Mercy":

So GGG, did you opine on Hillary's "basket of deplorables" and apparent health issues or did I miss it?

It's like I am in a bizarro world and now it seems that Hillary might just be a bad enough candidate that Trump will win. I don't really care who wins, because I still think it's going to be pretty much the same either way (but with more overt racism from the Trump camp), but wow, 2016 sucks.

As Trumpists continue to brand themselves "deplorable" (i.e., racist, sexists, xenophobes), that one may not wind up a gaffe in the end. Pretty hard to claim she's unfairly maligned them when they embrace it.

Knowing that her health was already an issue (for no reason) they should have gotten out ahead of the pneumonia thing. I don't really think it will matter much once she's reestablished on the trail, though.

It doesn't help that you'll hear a ton about deplorables but little about Trump using foundation money to buy himself stuff and pay off AGs. Or when you get headlines about how a lack of disclosure is dogging both of them (he's released almost nothing, her about all you could ask for, but it's totally the same).

That's a fascinating thought. I don't know how anyone has any confidence at all in predicting what President Trump would do.

I mean, I suppose I'd have to predict that he does mainstream Republican stuff, because Congress will make him do that or nothing, but then again he's such an unpredictable, petty, ignorant blowhard, who really knows?

But come on, you have to care. Even if you think there is zero policy distinction between them, do you really think empowering the sleaze he's brought out of the woodwork doesn't have harmful effects for all of us? To not to mention potentially acutely so for women, immigrants and people of color.

Say you were still undecided, (and i understand there are still a significant % of such voters- hard to believe, but supposedly true) and you are truly on the fence. hillary just said if you are thinking about voting for space fuck, you are "deplorable." You don't that will cost her votes? Really?

Not. Saying. Much. I can say that about people I worked with at Choice Messenger Service in the 1980s.

That's the exact opposite of what she said, but point taken.

You're serious with this shit aren't you?

Who gives a fuck about walking pneumonia? Or are you one of those psychos that thinks she's hiding brain damage or some other catastrophic illness? If you actually think it's walking pneumonia what exactly is the significance of her hiding it other than to keep it from being the entire focus of the next two weeks of questions?

As for "basket of deplorables," are you somehow insinuating that what she said isn't true? Or is the point that she's a terrible candidate without the sense to decline insulting a significant portion of the electorate. The idiots who will be offended by this comment are already voting for Trump or they're kidding themselves into thinking they haven't decided already.

But given all of the truly detestable shit Trump has said so far, it is highly comical that you have seized on these two bullshit "issues" in order to say something as ridiculous as...

You need to follow me on twitter (and TM on Facebook - I tend to respond to his political posts alot) if you want to get the full beauty of all my rants and raves.

I know you think Trump himself is pretty deplorable - what percentage of his followers do you think share that trait?

I generally won't say this in public debate, because it's not relevant to the pros and cons of Hillary's campaign and distracts from real issues, but all of the health discussion burns me up (and this goes for Trump, too - I mean, since he has a Gastro-intestinal guy as his primary, a very odd thing, I assume it means he's clinically full of shit, but who am I to say).

It all suggests a few mild physical disabilities disqualify you for the office. Shit, we better purge FDR from the list of Presidents!

Yeah, some days I can barely stand because of the neuropathy, but why should anyone give a shit.
