Trump called him a third rate lawyer in a tweet earlier today, so you at least have a higher impression of him. And in the words of @popehat, "I mean, I have my criticisms of Avenatti, but right now in Trump is arguing in his case 'we've agreed not to enforce that hush money agreement with Avenatti's client and abandoned the field so please please don't make us fight,' so Trump's bluster is maybe a little unconvincing."

Fair enough. Avenatti is playing with the first team. But the manipulation attempted in that affidavit, the writing intended to sound like it was only the witness’s own words in the most charged passages — that was JV.

I can't tell whether your scorn is that he used artifice at all, or that he didn't do it better.

Re: We are all Slave now.
When do Senate Republicans decide they brought the wrong dog to this hunt?

His defense was something along the lines of "didn't matter, didn't mean anything. It was like masturbating with someone else in the room."
I felt like total and complete shit when I heard about that description. It was totally consensual, usually fun sex. To have it, to have ME belittled and made to be nothing, was really, really painful. He's the only person I actively avoid. I blocked him from pretty much every aspect of my life, and years later, I have absolutely no interest in any contact at all with him. He had been a really good friend.

I don't know the guy or anything at all about your arrangement other than what you just said. But I really doubt that's how he actually thought about it. It sounds to me like he was saying what he thought would get him out of trouble for lying. Not saying that isn't a shitty thing to do. But I think when he was saying it that he probably truly thought you'd understand being thrown under the bus to save his relationship (especially if you guys were truly close).

What she's going through--being a fucking meme precursor in a fucking yearbook in which a bunch of dudes are bragging about fucking her--is outrageously disgusting. He should be bounced for just this.

I'm thinking the vote goes, and even odds he is seated. these yokels think the UN laughing at Trump merely means that he fucked them all so royally by beginning to rebuild America they couldn't help but try to show contempt, and he could not care less. Why not push the vote through. When building a 1000 year reich you don't need to worry about precedent coming back to bite you.

The GOP is committing political suicide to put this guy on the court.
They can do it, yes. They should not do it.

Are people catching Trump's press conference. It's like a white guy's version of this:

Both. It’s unecessary and poorly done.

Oh, I know WHY he was saying it. But is still hit me like a dump truck.

There are so many reasons for him to be bounced for. This one is just awful. I can't imagine having signed off on his "he's a good guy" letter only to be hit with this.

Here's my prediction - he withdraws over the weekend, Rosenstein is nominated, and Kavanaugh put up for Rosenstein's job.
