I always knew this subconsciously (and obviously it's become a thing people are aware of recently), but explicitly tying it to white women's complicity with violence to black bodies throughout US history was something maybe I was trying to avoid realizing--most likely because my first wife is white and I probably tried to push those types of thoughts way down deep for so many years.*

She mentions Emmet Till and it’s immediately an “of course” but it is what white men will do in reaction to white women's tears that is the real issue.
Anyway, it made me think about marching with local Black Lives Matter activists (and others) after Jamar Clark was killed by the police and some trash shot at protesters. Probably shed a tear or two that day. Was that unhelpful? (Obvs not a white woman).
That day I locked arms, at her initiation, for a bit with a young black woman (I took for an East African immigrant), who asked if I’d have been there but for the subsequent shooting. I said no (it wasn’t my first trip to the protest but I likely wouldn’t have been marching) and wonder what that answer meant to her. Like, I only care when it’s literal white supremisists shooting at innocents protesters? Probably woulda been helpful if I had more than a passing relationship, with her.

I’ve found the book lucid and sensible. It’s good text so far and I can’t disagree with most of what I’ve read.
I don’t find your posts similar to the logic or analytical acumen in the book.

It’s the only accurate term. Are you betraying romantic sensibilities? I’ve a bias toward the arts. But we can’t do that...

The questions you ask Sebby sometimes make me want to vote for Trump.

Can't tell whether you are pretending to be obtuse or just do it naturally, but I'm going to go with the latter this time.

I was trying for a cryptic comment on your "romantic" intepretation of the very clinical term "subsidy."
It didn't come off. (It possibly came off as me suggesting we have closeted feelings for one another, however, which is pretty funny.)
Chalk that one up to last night's unneeded second martini.

I think he was drinking and writing there. I listen to other people all the time. It's why I rarely find myself able to "take a stand," to borrow your indictment. Adder's issue is not that I literally never listen to him. It's that I literally never agree with him. And he's wrong there. I agree with him occasionally.

The goal keeper of the tournament was the Chilean woman. USA scored three on her, but it could have been much, much worse. I was sad that Chile didn't make it out of the group because I would have loved to watch her more.

Don't do this. You're an ally. What moves you moves you. If you think about all the stuff you could be doing and haven't, you will paralyze yourself.
But increasing your circle of friends to include people of color is a thing everyone can do.

Upon further review, I see that the narcissists you were referring are white people generally, not the author, in particular, as I erroneously initially read it.

I agree it's cool, but it still wasn't fun explaining that men have an inherent physical advantage. But I also told her than men are generally immature assholes who start wars and are responsible for most crime.

Weren't you the one that said most men players are swarthy and that all us swarthies are dangerous cheaters. Explain all that to her?

My kids and I are swarthier than you.
