This held up well.

If you went to a top 6 university and then went to law school, something's amiss. You're kind of wasting the undergrad degree and the connections it confers to take on unjustifiable lost opportunity costs and annoyance.
Or as you note, Mom worked in admissions.

I don't think anyone expected that Trump's first act upon escaping Mueller's clutches would be to put himself right back into the crosshairs of another investigation.
But then again, it's not entirely an unexpected thing for him to do...

Uh, hello? Trump betrayed the Kurds this week just to show that he can do whatever the fuck he wants.
And if he took a lesson from L'Affaire Mueller, surely it was that with an Attorney General who won't recuse, he has no need to fear federal law enforcement investigations.

Let’s be clear, though, 45 betrayed the Kurds because Erdogan and Putin wanted him too. Is it out of his bizarre affinity for strongman or is there more going (some of which we don’t know about in part because Manafort chose to go to jail instead of cooperate)?

Or because he got tired of national security professionals telling him it was a bad idea, at the same time that national security professionals are screwing him by creating Ukrainian problems for him, and so he acted out.
As with trying to explain the results of the 2016 election, it's overdetermined.

Can't be sure that there's any connection between Barr's visit with Murdoch, and Shep Smith's departure from Fox News, but the lack of transparency certainly leaves a bad look for the Fox.
Also, what Rick Wilson says.

If nobody expected it, how was it not unexpected? The weak passive voice of your second sentence does not save it from irreconcilability with the first. This is just another example of poor writing completely failing to distract from unpersuasive excuses that are being made in order to justify yet another bloviation proven false.

Speaking of the law, in what sense is Giuliani acting as Trump's attorney? Does he ever give Trump legal advice, or is he a fixer with a legally cognizable excuse to keep secrets?

It's not entirely clear if he is Trump's lawyer.

Somewhere in the text chain, she asked him about an engagement letter. He didn't answer the question but swears that he's Trump's lawyer.

Well, of course he does, because he wants to be able to assert the attorney-client privilege, and because it makes him sound closer and more reputable than just some other dude. In principle, a lawyer can sometimes act on Trump's behalf.
I'm just not clear why that status is necessary for anything that he's been doing.

This isn’t garden variety man-splaining, cuz it is how you talk to men too. Let’s call it Ty-splaining?
