I think there are two things driving him:
Ego. Adoration. He loves being in front of cheering crowds.
$$$. The guy says everyone else is controlled by money, obviously that view of the world comes from somewhere. Somewhere deep inside. I think he got a couple million in royalties from the book and has spent the last six years travelling where he wants, living in style, and doing what he wants, and he likes that.
