A buddy of mine is doing disaster planning for a city (he's a bit busy) and seizures from booze and opioid withdrawal are a serious concern. A client that designs rehab facilities has been asked to look into how they may be expanded to include makeshift triage area, so ERs don't have to deal with addicts seizing.
I have had strange chills for a few days, however. I can't imagine I have it, but I was going to the gym daily until Wolf closed them, and to stores fairly frequently thru last week. So I'm not totally ignoring such symptoms, as I normally would.
ETA: Oh, and we're definitely getting civil unrest.

aren't you a short drive to NJ? I feel bad for the poor folks in those mountain towns.

Yes. But I planned for dual shutdown.
Folks in the country will do better than the rest of us. Coal crackers here are more transactional, and less respecting of law, than Trump. We go Thunderdome, I’ll reconnect with the people who’ll treat you as blood. Even the upper classes there hook up a perceived local by birth.
It’s all the inside handshake in this east coast Alabama. If I need a ventilator, I need the old friends.

Gavin Newsome has avoided picking fights with Trump, and the federal government sent us nothing but a bunch of ventilators that don't work. Trump seems to be on fine terms with Florida's governor, whom he is pressuring to leave the beaches open and businesses open. Florida had more than 500 new cases today. So it's not clear that Trump is helping anyone, really.

He doesn't know how to "help". It's not a concept he really understands. He wants to "win" in some big dramatic fashion.
Which isn't going to be obvious because "winning" against this thing is taking measures to prevent it from happening in the first place, which isn't glamorous and people get pissed because they're forced to shut down without understanding why.

Are there ventilators he controls? I don't understand. GM is gearing up to build them, but I have not seen an estimate of when 1 hit a hospital. Trump today granted Michigan's request for aide, but I have no idea what any of it means. i'm not a smart man; I come here so you all can explain stuff.

There are some in the national stockpile.

Re: Objectively intelligent.
If anyone here has to cover a payroll besides Hank (who I assume is in his tricked out bunker in [undisclosed]), the Free Money 2020 Act, a/k/a CARES, has a lot of nice features. It's a $350 bil giveaway masquerading as a crisis loan.
Kill a credit line with it. Hire everybody back and have pizza parties with it (pretend a client's going to pay you becuase You're Just That Good And Essential in the next month).
This is helicopter $$$.

How about that Richard Epstein?

Seems like there is an under appreciated interrelationship between Dunning Krueger and the Peter Principle.

Re: Objectively intelligent.
In the New York Times, Ross Douthat says that until sometime in February, "liberal officialdom and its media appendages were more likely to play down the threat, out of fear of giving aid and comfort to sinophobia or populism. This period was the high-water mark of “it’s just the flu” reassurances in liberal outlets, of pious critiques of Donald Trump’s travel restrictions, of deceptive public-health propaganda about how masks don’t work, of lectures from the head of the World Health Organization about how 'the greatest enemy we face is not the virus itself; it’s the stigma that turns us against each other.'”
I don't remember this *at* *all." Is my head screwed on wrong? I have been a little more obsessive about this story than most people, but this is crazy. The news sources that liberals turn to -- NPR, the New York Times -- were reporting from Wuhan and the rest of China on a story that most people were not paying attention to. I don't remember anyone playing down the threat.

Always check the date. New information on tests, antibodies, etc., comes out every day. Anything more than a day old, I don't even look at.
