I just noticed out local buses still has a sign "Federal Law requires masks to ride." Was there a mandate separate from the airplane mandate? Or do they just need to update the sign?

 Laphroaig Cairdeas. Pedro Ximenex Casks.
If you’ve not had this, you need to grab a bottle. It’s 118 proof, but you don’t notice it (don’t know how they do that). And it tastes a bit like rum. Hard to explain, but delicious.

But you aren't supposed to sleep, eat or shit on the subway and we know how that goes.

If you're a USMNT fan, it's nice to see England cratering just now. Not many games left before Qatar.

This is one I usually have open somewhere, it's less peaty in taste than other Laphroigs, something about the process mellows it out a fair bit.

The older Laphroigs get even more mellow; you may know it was made with a lot of peat, but what's left are little wisps of flavor that really taste nothing like the young smoky peat. Sebby's right, there is a sweet taste in it, like a rum, but way more subtle.

I'm still mourning the lack of easy accessible single malt Japanese scotches, though. When my chemo's done, I just may spring for one of the really crazy expensive remaining bottles.

 | Nikka. I just buy whatever I see by that distillery, and it’s all been great. Their gin is also fantastic.

I got an 8 yo Hatozaki recently. Damn fine stuff.

 | I am partial to Jura. Won a free trip there and had the factory for a private tasting. Some of my favorites were the least peaty.

Nikka Taketsuru. It's a blend, but a great one, at a killer price.

Jura was often the house single malt, in the upside-down bottle with the measured drops. This suggests to me that it is one of the most approachable single malts (and cheapest).

I love peaty and smoky Islays, but Laphroig, at least the base model, is too medicinal/iodiney, if that is a word.
