As to whether itunes is able to negotiate better licensing terms, that is a potential economy of scale, but I do not know whether it has (there are cases alleging that record companies have colluded on online music royalties, although I don't know the details) or if it has, what the magnitude of the advantage is.

Except what Burger said was "it isn't that there are economies of scale." What Burger said is "the required fixed costs could be a barrier to entry."

Are you arguing the underlying point (that Apple is in a better position to make profits because of the benefits its large size grants) or are you just arguing about the technical definition of "economies of scale?" Not to detract from the fascinating Econ 201 late-nite study group I inadvertently started, but People is reporting that Elin is dropping her divorce petition, which, as you may recall, revives the chances of my "Elin will not deem it in her best interest to leave" theory being mostly correct, after some pretty dark days in which it appeared to be, um, wrong.
 Boosh!

 I'd call that life changing.

TM | Yuk. that's so offputting that unless she offered me in the 6 figures I wouldn't sex her if she paid me.

Ahhh. I would only recognize the Beginner Lines from that flick. It's only with Trading Places that it's a stone-cold groove. |

Not that it wasn't awful that she died (for her and those who knew her); it just wasn't extra notable because she'd just come into five grand.
