Zero need for cold weather hats. I'm not a farmer, as Flinty is wont to say.
Absolutamente no! to a cotton fisherman, train conductor, or newsboy, as these are the very definition of costume hats.
The problem with the wool houndstooth walkers are (a.) I'm not Bing Crosby, though I think we should all aspire to be; and (b.) hats here are only necessary on pretty hot days or when it's raining. Let's put the rain scenario to one side because if you're wearing a trenchcoat you can get away with a cotton bucket hat and not look any more like a tool than many others on the street -- this ain't Carrie Bradshaw's Manhattan, at least not when it rains.
So it basically comes down to a linen or twill ivy (flat) cap -- single panel, as I said none of that newsboy look for me -- or a straw Panama. So which would look less dorky with a navy or dark gray suit? (I assume that either style would be marginally easier to pair with a summer weight suit.)
ETA that villagehatshop.com site has a stunning Panama porkpie called the Capetti that I would seriously consider wearing but it's $714. WTF?

How about these spring/summer styles from Hats.com, probably with silk or seersucker:

I think a bbal cap or a borsalino/capas/newsboy beats what you are suggesting. However, given your preferences, I'd go with a pleated linen or ribbed cotton Islamic hat, like these.

There's a church in our diocese where the clerical attire includes a kente trimmed kufi. These guys are whiter than me -- shit, man, they were born Episcopalian, and even I'm more ethnic than that -- but these brothers are bad-ass in their robes and kufis. The ability to wear a kente kufi made me briefly reconsider my vocation for the first time since well before puberty. It goes to show that what unites the Anglican Communion is neither dogma nor ritual -- it's good taste.

An open letter to Packers fans
4 or 5 years ago the Tigers can within 1 game of tying for the worst record ever in baseball.
Now, the lions have tied worst. what remains to be seen is if they can exceed the tie. Green Bay holds the fate. NCS/MM, would it really hurt to cheer for a lions' win? It's not like you've never lost before.
We need some relief up here.

I feel for Lions fans. It has been a hard decade for you. Sadly, in addition to being 0-15 this season they are also 0-17 in their last 17 games at Lambeau. I think you need a festivus miracle.
ETA -- I'm not a Packers fan, though my life does tend to go better when they aren't as shitty as they have been this year.

Until now, I was considering rooting for the Packers for the sake of history. But my traditional prejudices have won out. Go Lions!
