Am I the only person here who likes the Drive By Truckers?
For those who (like me) enjoy singer-songwriter chicks, Terri Hendrix is *fantastic* -- I encourage the road-tripping Ollie and paigow to catch her act. (And yes, Shawn Colvin, Lucinda Williams, Liz Phair, and Beth Orton are all fantastic S/S chicks, too, but y'all have heard of them.)

Among the fellows, Hank III and Jimmy Lafave put on great live shows. Lafave does some amazing rocking covers of Bob Dylan tunes.

Almost makes me wanna ice down some Lone Star, pop a Lyle Lovett CD in the Not Bobmobile, and take a road trip to the Republic. Hey, e/o, can I crash on your couch?

Thanks y'all. So much for my barely concealed town of residence . . .

As I tell my inlaws, I have the best hotel recommendations for you.

I am utterly convinced that if there isn't a stupid word for everything, someone will make it up.

(An article on why people are afraid of Friday the 13th.)

Given the way my day is going, maybe I should be afraid of Friday the 13th.

I was wondering why the staff is so skittish today. When I flipped on the lights this morning, they all scrabbled across the linoleum for cover, and peered out of the darkness of their cubicles with more loathing than usual, watching us suspiciously as they engaged in their ritual grooming behaviors.

"Yabba Yabba You" was the sig line for Kingston reggae great Yabba You. Could you be confusing two bands?

Ask Not What Your Country Can Doh! for You

For this one, I think Atticus deserves SLOTM*, if not Y*.

And it's not just because in tribute to the late Mr. Peck I watched the wonderful TKAM on DVD last night and so have extra love for Atticus today.

Nope. Though I am starting to think this band may have been more of a cover band than I thoght. Though I read the lyrics to the Heptones "fat girl" and I am not at all certain its the same tune.

surely some of the new england, new york cool kids in their thirites can help out?

Hair Products Query

I went to a new hair stylist today and got recommendations for new products by Kerastase which is apparently a L'Oreal line. Has anyone tried this line before? Any comments? They smell nice and I'm very happy with the cut and "gloss" that I got.

Shocking News -- He Turned It In!

Dude! Look What I Caught in My, Uh, Uh, Net...

PARIS (Reuters) -
A French fisherman netted a surprise catch this week -- 66 pounds of cannabis. The man was fishing on the river Yvette, on the southern edge of Paris, when he spotted something strange in the water, French media reported Friday.

Taking a closer look, he discovered 28 bags, each containing a little over a kilogram of cannabis resin and immediately alerted the police.

Isn't that how the best crime capers start? A fisherman finds 28 kilos of weed, talks to his friends, they decide to sell it to finance a crazy scheme, mayhem ensues.

Maybe that's why he turned it in.

I am a tremendous tremendous fan and think they are the best. A family member recently told me my hair has never looked better. The "green" line is superb. And that Vitacement in spa treatment changes your hair.

I really hope this was the actual story:

"Taking a closer look, he discovered 40 bags, each containing a little over a kilogram of cannabis resin and immediately turned in 28 bags to the police ".

This is good to know, thanks! I think I got the green line shampoo and a leave-on conditioner. I also got a rinse conditioner called Masquintense.
