And he's been crowing about how he's been right for 30 years, that access to easy money was dangerous. Um, yeah -- it was. But I'd say that the first 29 good years were worth the last bad year.

Trump is crazier, but will be irrelevant. He's too big a fool, too embarassed by the birth certificate fiasco, and ultimately he's a reality TV host with a bunch of marriage and business failures in his past. He'll appeal to the remnants of the birther "movement," but that's all.

Gingrich I wouldn't call crazy. Smart, dangerous, dishonest, fairly evil. But not crazy. I wouldn't call Paul either dishonest or evil.

Palin, too stupid in the intellectual sense to be "crazy," and too smart in her ability to be the flavor of the month. ("I like federal subsidies!!! Gimme more!!!" "I said I didn't want that bridge, gee whiz but gosh no thanks!")

Yeah, but he knows enough to burn all the evidence that he authorized the execution of someone without the mental capacity to form the intent he was convicted of having. I think 'weed would lump that into the "evil" bin, tho one evil act need not necessarily make him an evil person.

Not really. But in politics it's different, at least in this instance. Palin's positions, and followers, aren't driven by the crazy so much as by the ill-informed -- the intentional anti-elite no-nothingness that she loves to promote. And by her own knee-jerk appeal to the far right, "populist," nativist, etc.

Paul has a complete, coherent world-view. As do people who believe in elves.

You should read the Josh Green article about her in The Atlantic -- I linked to it the other day, but I think you can find it by Binging "Josh Green Sarah Palin The Atlantic." She seems to have been rather different in a number of ways as a governor, which kinda makes you wonder where the persona came from.

I read it and didn't think it painted as flattering a picture of her as you seem to think it did (and maybe the author felt it did as well). To me it sounded less like someone who was a great governor and more like someone who lucked into a couple issues where her willingness to go all out against someone she considered an enemy accidentally and luckily happened to be areas where doing so would benefit the state.

I said it improved my opinion of her and made McCain's decision to pick her look better. It didn't make me a fan. I mentioned it again in response to Sidd's post because it made pretty clear that the political persona she has now wasn't the way she was in Alaska, even if her personality (which has some pretty unattractive aspects) has been pretty consistent. What I'd like to know is, when and why did she become a right-wing culture warrior? Did the McCain people want her hitting those notes to get the base riled up? Because that's not who she was when she was just the governor of Alaska.

Here's the interesting question: will you now reject some of the sources of information that addled and misinformed your thoughts back then? Do you recognize that you are prone to being manipulated by populist media? The big question Ty, now that you admit your regret for your vote, is whether you realize the flaws you now recognize in your past judgement should point to you not posting your future opinions as they are as likely to be wrong as were your past- that Ty is the question we should all be asking.

Although Europe is certainly coming on, we have no equal in the porn world.
