The crowd is growing though. I'd say a couple hundred. Signs all appear reasonably cogent (to the extent that signs like "Tax the Rich" and "Revoke Corporate Personhood" are cogent). There was one guy, who I think I have seen preaching on the street before, reading from Leviticus and describing it as "what Jesus said," which was a bit odd, but I doubt he views himself as part of the movement.

In Foreign Policy Speech, Romney Calls for a "Thousand Year Reich"

By ASHLEY PARKER

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Standing before an audience of crisply-clad, closely-shorn cadets, Mitt Romney delivered his foreign policy vision today at The Citadel, calling for a strengthened military and economy to lead the country into what he dubbed "an American Milennium,” while also accusing President Obama of weakening the nation’s image around the world. And we're going to invade Poland, too.

“This is America’s moment,” said Mr. Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. “We should embrace the challenge, not shrink from it, not crawl into an isolationist shell, not wave the white flag of surrender, nor give in to those who assert America’s time has passed, because they are decadent internationalist traitors to our glorious homeland.”

Take a hard swipe at Mr. Obama, he added: “An eloquently justified surrender of world leadership is still surrender, and we will never surrender, never retreat, and we will fight until the last drop of pure American blood."

Mr. Romney, whose vision generally called for a strong and resolute America to lead the world, also outlined eight specific actions he would take in his first 100 days if elected president. These include strengthening naval power by increasing shipbuilding;
Really? What we need is more ships? We have essentially the only navy in the world, but it needs to be bigger (i.e., more expensive)?

Quote:

“I will launch a campaign to advance economic opportunity in Latin America, and contrast the benefits of democracy, free trade and free enterprise against the material and moral bankruptcy of the Venezuelan and Cuban model,” Mr. Romney said.
Hopefully this gets center stage in the Romney campaign. "I'm Mitt, and I will stimulate the Latin American economy. Screw the American one!"

Quote:

Addressing a small group of veterans, he called for increasing the Pentagon’s budget — moving non-combat spending to 4 percent of the gross domestic product from 3.8 percent, and growing the active duty personnel ranks by about 100,000.
And there you have it. The Romney stimulus package: more ships, missile defense, a bigger pentagon and a bigger military.

Yes, because of all the impeaching of W and his merry band of war criminals that happened.

That said the definition of "imminent" described in that article sound more than a little fishy.

Naturally.

In addition to questioning the purported reasoning of this memo, I'm also rather perturbed about the reporting about it. Clearly, someone from the administration showed it to the Times, and then was interviewed about it off the record, in an arrangement that smells of official anonymity of the worst sort. Transparency indeed.

The conversation here was never really that elevated to begin with, but if what you want to learn is how to sink it with persistent trolling, you're with the right sensei. He taught me everything I know.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument (and because it's true) that this memo was just as much of a bullshit CYA exercise as anything ever written by John Yoo. That being the case, which Republican presidential candidate do you think will be the first to call for Obama to be impeached for killing Al-Alawki and Samir Khan?

Adder 10-10-2011 03:14 PM

I doubt this will ever become law, thankfully, but it's surprising that the House majority would think it's a good idea.

Perhaps they felt that the White House was threatening their status as top-of-the-heap eroders of civil liberties.

exactly!!! don't even attempt to answer the question. maybe obama didn't order the guy killed, or maybe, who knows, maybe the death-memo is well reasoned, heh, who is to say it isn't well-reasoned? right? and what, the dead guy is dead, so who'll challenge it? the imprisoned guy had standing. ain't no standing for a "crispy-critter."

then call me and club trolls, WTG!

AND Adder, there is a question, implicit perhaps but there.
the point from the start of these posts was to teach these socks that daily railed on against W that W was simply doing that which any president would do. The beautiful parallels between the two presidents' decisions is more than I had hoped for. But perhaps these socks have already admitted they were foolish, and thus I can stop?

You can call it "beautiful" but I'd go with "depressing." Especially if you think that W and Obama are just doing that which any president would do, and you don't mean that from a public choice perspective.
