I know it's like cutting off my nose to spite my face, but I am taking some pleasure in seeing the EU implode. Those condescending pricks were so holier than thou during our banking crisis.

They remain the repository of all culture in the world and a superior way of life.

But, honestly, it's the folks bordering the North Sea who are insufferable, not the ones bordering the Mediterranean.

Yea, it took a lot of intelligence to implode our housing market.

Ah, yes, you must blame someone other than the people making or receiving the loan, right? I hope you listened to Frank's rebuttal of the whole conservative whine about him and housing; one thing you'll always get with Barney is an intelligent debate, even if he has to do all the talking to make it so.

Barney wrote legislation - a lot of it and working with almost any cosponsors of any party. He wasn't afraid of compromise, and he did not sit on the sidelines whining endlessly, which is all Boehner's babies are doing.

Anyone who enjoys a sharp-tongued Congressman.

I happen to think he's also a pretty good one, but even if you disagree with his politics, there is something there to enjoy.

Oh, and by Rush who won't get to "accidently" call him "Barney Fag" or play "Dancing Queen" at his every mention anymore.

It is indeed a sad day for our gay-baiting friends on the right.

That was Barney Frank's fault? Whew -- thanks for clarifying that.

I thought it was ACORN and that relentless singing inside bank offices.

He was so smart that he used mind control to hypnotize the Republicans who controlled Congress.

On the list of causes of the housing bubble, Frank is somewhere below Le Corbusier and above Jack Ruby.

On the list of Democrats Republicans like to demonize, Frank is somewhere north of Ted Kennedy's ghost and south of the Kenyan President - in other words, top 3!

Hint: this has nothing to do with housing

They would blame 9/11 on him, but that's taken.

In fairness, this is one of those occasions, like Santorum, or Bachmann, where a politician has said so many shockingly stupid things, that even though flagging Congressmen for stupidity is like handing out speeding tickets at NASCAR events, a unique level of idiocy should be noted. Along with the irony in her running a financial oversight committee.

But if you wish to defend her financial shrewdness by noting she was smart enough to arm twist a few banks to help her husband financially (look it up) while avoiding ethical sanction, I'll hear your case.

How come when Iceland tanked and caused our economy to fail it was W's fault, but the entire continent failing has nothing to do with BHO? Also, call it co-incidence, but has the state of the world turned more unfavorably against us and our friends under any other President since Carter? i think not, but again we seem to give him a pass.

Not to mention last week when I went to pick up Ironweed to go to lunch I read in one of his occupy handbills that his kids must use for toys that Obama has enlisted local police to pepper spray the occupiers as he and the other politicians are afraid of the movement's cutting truth. Why doesn't the NYT cover that?

It wasn't. It had nothing to do with W. Who says otherwise?

What do you think he should be doing or have done to save the European economy?

I think not either, so we can agree on that.

Maybe 'cuz NYPD penned up their reporters where they couldn't see what was going on.

I'd like to think Joe Sixpack doesn't get incensed by this stuff because he's either given up, or doesn't think there's any way to change it. But I don't think that's true. I think he's so fucking dumb that an article discussing the Treasury Secretary nakedly assisting in insider trading is simply not interesting, or somehow "beyond him."

We deserve to lose our freedom. And the cattle who aren't disgusted by this shit deserve to be enslaved in debt, and have their benefits eviscerated. In a country where 20% of the citizens had adequate curiosity about the world beyond their couch, this story would be the headline in every newspaper. "Henry Paulson: Agnew by Different Means?"

Because the world in which Iceland caused our economy to fail was a parallel universe, discoverable only through Syd Barrett-level indulgence in LSD. Or paranoid schizophrenia.
