I don't know if I disagree or not. What assumptions didn't pan out? Do you think Reagan's people assumed we would grow our way out of deficits -- that somehow, people's desire to have the gov't do shit for them would lessen after a sustained economic boom? Or did he assume that someone else would fix his mess (e.g., Clinton)?

I say raise the age of eligibility on SS to 85.5. Does anyone have a calculator to find the savings on that?
