Fallows on the
Post Truth Convention Speech.
I've been thinking about this for a while. All politicians shade things in their favor, and will even tell lies if they think they can get away with it. The notable difference in this election cycle is that Romney/Ryan are operating under the proposition that being "caught" in a lie really doesn't matter. If it resonates with people who want to believe it, that's what's important - so tell it anyway. As Fallows put it, the bad development here is that "a major party's nominee for national office apparently just doesn't care that he is standing in front of millions and telling
easily catchable lies."
Might work, too. We'll see.
