And as to Wednesday wife-beaters, anyone catch McCain, whose been calling on everyone to wait for the Pentagon to weigh in before addressing DADT, now saying that it's not about the Pentagon, the Defense Secretary, or the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, he wants to hear from the head of each service? While he was at it, he falsely said that Gates had never served...

Aren't any of you ashamed of these guys?

And DADT.

I've been calling Hutchison's office for two days about DREAM, and I can't get through. She was an original co-signer of DREAM three or four years ago, and there's a slim hope that she may remember that once upon a time, she was a moderate Republican. I'd think she'd be pissed as hell at the tea party types after the gubenatorial primary, but apparently not.

Still, I'm glad so many people are calling, and I think there's quite a bit of lobbying going on. I know that the three UT campuses on the border are very interested in making DREAM happen.

It saddens me that John McCain doesn't have faith in the military's ability to integrate. I think they have a pretty good track record, myself. But I never served, so what good is my opinion?

Apparently he is also the arbiter of who has served, and not everyone in uniform counts when he wants a military opinion. Certainly, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs doesn't count.

Either that, or he was thinking all Defense Secretaries from the Bush administration did not serve, and forgot that one did.

The letter came from McConnell this morning:

Quote:
"[W]e write to inform you that we will not agree to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to any legislative item until the Senate has acted to fund the government and we have prevented the tax increase that is currently awaiting all American taxpayers," the letter reads. "With little time left in this Congressional session, legislative scheduling should be focused on these critical priorities. While there are other items that might ultimately be worthy of the Senate's attention, we cannot agree to prioritize any matters above the critical issues of funding the government and preventing a job-killing tax hike."

Fair enough.

Unconstitutionally, so it will be blocked.

ETA - and that appears to be a good thing - http://www.cato-at-liberty.org/lame-...n-food-safety/

ETA 2 - and it appears from the Roll Call article that Reid fucked up on this before, didn't learn his lesson, so they wasted all those days of the lame-duck session because he sucks donkey dick.

This is pretty cool

That, my friends, is the Iran Air headquarters, built by Israeli engineers prior to the Islamic Revolution.

Actually, he seems to be saying it only counts if only the minority leader was there.
