 | How do you know what that picture was? You weren't there. It could have been a fake execution staged in Hanoi to make the South Vietnamese look bad.

It is your schtick, and it is really, really tired. "We cannot comment on anything because we weren't there and/or we aren't experts, so we should not question the cops who are beating people." Give me a break.

Watch the video of campus police at UC Davis wearing riot gear using chemical agents against people who are sitting down on a walkway. Then they leave. WTF? How is this remotely acceptable?

 | that is the weirdest. I guess they tore down tents before the spraying, so they were leaving, but then what possibly motivates the spraying? the other really odd thing is the chubby un-helmeted cop who is smiling and joking with the crowd, keeping them away from his police car- and the car is left, in fact the chubby guy doesn't leave it's just the ones with helmets-

as to WTF is wrong with people, whatever one may say about the power trip that leads some police to be police, I find campus police far worse. I think they have the same weaknesses, but they couldn't get a normal cop gig and they're stuck with the semi-cop campus thing. then they get sick of the spoiled college kids and become very nasty officers. Campus police are malum per se.

now, let me ask you this, abu gharib had our soldiers overacting. when you heard osama was killed did the abu crimes make you think osama was killed without justification, or did you think that maybe situations should be looked at individually?
 | He came to be bleeding after Bloomberg arrested/removed the press and legal observers, banned news helicopters from the airspace, and sent armed and armored riot police to remove peaceful protesters, who were arrested en masse. What more do you need?

If you prevent everyone from monitoring you actions, you get a presumption against you when a kid turns up bleeding profusely from the head. |

 | The list of schools I don't want my kids going near is getting longer and longer. Has UC Davis disciplined the guy yet? He has no business being in that job, and I'm shocked none of the cops around him stopped it. Was no one in charge?

Most of them viewed the job as easy street and were there because it was more fun to hang out with us than go somewhere where they had to deal with real crime.

Maybe it's different at big universities, but I rather liked the campus police at our college.

 | Mac's bar, 1/4 mile off campus, was the best "get drunk/hook up" place. At 2 AM Campus police would show up and follow cars from Mac's lot back towards campus. Once the poor student turned into campus the lights went on. East Lansing police wouldn't do the same with off campus people. MSU cops were/are fucked up.

But the idea that they'd be looking to foil hookups, well, maybe we won't cross that one off quite yet.
