Does AdBlock block it? Or is it a Safari issue? Anyone else not seeing it?

Safari with ghostery shows Amazon Commission as one of the blocked advertisers.

Should I block everything with ghostery?

last I heard RT needs money for this board. she's married now, and needs to be saving her money up, not wasting it on this here.

Ghostery only blocks trackers. You can still use the Amazon link.

I see it, but Half.com is usually cheaper. I wish they could provide a box.

Re: Stuck on Repeats

Gut check: Why am I thinking all the "look where you can marry your cousin!" stuff in the marriage rights wars actually undermines the point? The people who back marriage equality are basing the argument on the lack of legitimate interest in who marries whom -- why are they illustrating it with a point that just reminds people that the idea of some people having sex is actually a little squicky? No offense to anyone who's married to a cousin, but when I look at a map of all the places where cousins can marry, my first thought isn't "In fairness we have to let gays marry, too." My first thought is "Ew." And that's a terrible thing to make people think in the midst of a debate where the logical position is that other people's sex is almost never your business even when you find it gross.

Posting here because I have confidence if I'm wrong on this, someone will tell me, and my mother-in-law won't have to see me get humiliated.

If this is what those crazy motherfuckers do for fun, we really had no right to win the Cold War.

I think the "cousins" stuff distracts from the real problem. North Carolina is not a backwater state- yet it passed this thing. Hell, Michigan passed it by a ton a few years back. California sort of passed it. Making fun of NC makes us not look at our neighbors, and try to change stuff here.

Good point. This is why I prefer ridiculing them for the distances they go to protect the sanctity of John Edwards' second marriage.

It may surprise people, but there are bigots everywhere, even Massachusetts. I mean, we have the kind of people who bully gay prep school classmates.

NC is fairly backwater. Apparently every county that has a college in it voted in favor of providing fundamental civil rights to the evil homosexuals, but the many counties without voted against. Note that I base this entirely on my review of a cartoon map that someone posted on Facebook, so it may or may not be true but it's interesting.

Totally agree on that score. OTOH, it's very frustrating to work at a large organization where someone junior in a public-facing role somewhere does something stupid, and all of a sudden the internet is mobilizing with pitchforks to tell each other how much you suck, even though you're comfortable that it's a minor screw-up that should and will be fixed.

Or so I might imagine.
