The comparison breaks down, though, in that Romney has never achieved the level of boring that Kerry exudes. |

 | Have you met Mitt?

Don't take this as a defense of Kerry in any way. But Mitt wins that battle.

Why does my state produce such wind-up-doll politicians?

(Here's the long term reality. The health care act, though well meaning from an economic standpoint, expands care beyond current provider capacity. The reason for this? Because bleeding hearts insisted we expand coverage, rather than simply deal with costs, and this necessarily involves putting millions of people who'll never pay anything for their care into the system. And no mandate or tax imaginable will ever cover the cost of keeping millions of free-riders in the system for years, to perhaps decades, longer than they'd otherwise be in it.

We are giving preventative care to millions of people who'll never be able to pay for any portion of their health care. Under the old structure, as cold as this sounds, these people "left the system" early, and used it sparingly [Akin to Smoking's positive health care cost impact... the one we all understand, but no one dares speak aloud ]. That decreased costs in much the same way smoking eliminated a lot of long term costs by clearing out early many of the bad health risks who'd otherwise linger on for decades with other chronic illnesses. [A large percentage of smokers die early from heart attacks, before they impose long term chronic illness costs on the system.]

What the health care act will create is a two tiered system. The upper middle to wealthy will have access to docs in structures geared to address that marketplace. The poor and lower middle will get even lousier care than they already do at increased cost to everyone else, including most significantly, and cruelly, them. [No, Hank, they will not make all doctors take Medicaid. I view that argument as a non-starter.]

Don't respond to this with a moral argument. I'm not saying I advocate a system that takes human "costs" out of the system early. But we're talking numbers here, and that's the reality.)

Your analogy to the bullshit that gets reported as financial news is groundless. He's not making up stories to explain things he doesn't understand (and may not be explainable). |
