The Great Baggage Handler in the sky has taped a big purplish dildo to the outside of the Amazon rainforest. {SFW, I think}

Yes, the dildo was black. Yes, it was big.
Having it taped to the outside of my bag would have culminated in my "anus horribilis."

Don't pretend that Fugee is on your corner. At best, from her corner she can barely make out the sign that you are carrying.

That's not a sign; it's the angry fist of God.

No, the Angry Fist of God was what Dualit packed in his suitcase.

Re: Stuck on Repeats
Baseball etiquette question:
Jarrod Saltalamacchia comes up to bat in the fifth inning Saturday night against the A's, whose pitcher is (to that point) throwing a perfect game, maybe mostly because the Sox look like they are mailing in the rest of their season. The A's have the shift on. Saltalamacchia bunts for a base hit to where the third baseman would have been. The Oakland crowd is, uh, not pleased.
Bush league for Saltalamacchia to break up the no-hitter with a bunt, or is the fifth inning too early for that? What about the shift?
I'm thinking that the shift makes it OK. If you're going to leave the left side open, you're asking the hitter to put it there.

There's a discussion to be had if he does that in the ninth. Not the fucking fifth.

Anyone's capable of imagining facts if there's no constraint on reality, plausibility or likelihood. So I now understand why your out-of-the-box comment was "maybe this has happened before," which seemed ludicrous as a contribution to the discussion I was having but quite is quite a logical response if you're imagining I was literally sitting here struggling to come up with bullshit I could just make up with my mind.
But no. I was musing about what they were going to present as evidence of targeting, given what we knew, and operating under the constraint that the evidence would be true, admissible and convincing. Because it's thoroughly insulting to intelligent life to think my post was pleading for your help in imagining evidence that I could just make up at will.

I'm not a baseball fan, not even remotely, so all of these traditions and guidelines and so forth that seem to permeate baseball mystify me.
To me, it seems that the batter's job is to do whatever he can to get on base. But I know that I'm missing something, probably traceable to the days when baseball was played in black-and-white. So, what's the problem with him bunting to get on base?

The 5th is waaaaaaay to early to get upset about that.

Why? I might discuss what idiot puts that shift on if they care about the purportedly perfect game. I might wonder why Saltalamacchia seems to care about getting on base when he is a fucking Red Sox. But I do not worry about that discussion.

Agree 100%. Unspoken rule not to bunt if the pitcher has a no-hitter going. But if you put on the shift, you have no right to get mad if someone takes advantage of it.
