You would go into full GGG-arrogance mode, cite a few dozen books, and call the guy an asshole, stupid, and all the other lovely comments you've made towards me and others. You'd probably say he was fueling hatred.
And you probably wouldn't even notice that he was doing what Gandhi did.
If you've concluded that I hate Muslims or fail to recognize that there other religions have their own extremists who commit violence in the name of the religion, that's your own smugness blinding you.

I just noted another incidence of religious-inspired mob violence since we were talking about it. Everything else in your post is your own stuff.*
[Insert tongue in (my) cheek] But let me know if you want some book recommendations, it's been a while since I've made any suggestions, and the result seems to be that you've descended to watching Fox* now. [/remove tongue]

Seriously, on the Fox thing. How do people stand that shit? I've long believed that it's important to try and see things from "the other side's" perspective, but Christ that crap is unwatchable. It is so beyond transparent. If Obama ate a piece of birthday cake, they'd find a reason to hate him for it.

Yeah, I may joke about the rest, but branding you as a Fox-watcher is the one thing I've said that is truly below the belt. Lo siento.
I have a relative who leaves Fox news on all day, everyday in their kitchen. It's hard to visit. If we ever stay more than a day, a pig-wrestling episode is inevitable. I understand Dick Cheney always had Fox news on wherever he went - he insisted his aides have the television on and tuned to Fox news before he arrived at any hotel room.

I'm not a big fan of echo-chambers. Even in college, I couldn't stand when people -- even people with whom I agreed on the very issue we were discussing -- would get together and talk about how stupid and wrong and blah blah blah everyone who disagreed with them was. It's never a discussion about what you can do that's good or constructive, it's all just a feel-good session, where each person ups the ante about how stupid those who disagree with you are.
Fox is like that, but without the excuses that (1) we're just a group of naïve college kids and (2) we're really just trying to get laid from some patchouli-scented hottie looking to break past her prep-school boundaries.

The only way I can understand it is to think about any Duke-related hate piece. I hate Duke and Coach K so much that if you produce anything that shows how disgusting that program is, I will eat that shit up like Obama eats birthday cake (that black, birthday cake-eating Muslim/racist church-attending foreigner). I will nod in agreement with all accusations, no matter how flimsy, and I will tune in every chance I get to do so. And if I ever get that and you try to take it away from me, I will kill you.
It's probably the same.

if we make it to next weekend I think we get Duke (assuming it gets there). I love playing Duke in March.

Gonzaga is no slouch. I have them beating Duke on my one feasible bracket.

My last vacation at the local hospital I was paired with an avid fan of Fox News. I spent three days telling him how everything they were reporting was either slanted or outright lies. I looked up other references. I had visitors bring in books. He left as certain that Fox News was the only "patriotic" news service as he was that a glass of prune juice in the morning would get him going in nothing flat. It's like the whole "how to be a Playa" scam or fantasy camps. Tell people what they want to hear and it goes down so much easier.
