Why do you speak such words of hate?

I do, but I don't think we've had one who is willing to admit it.

So, yeah. You're right. Christian leaders should fix her, but that shit ain't gonna happen. They need to be able to push that "cash out" button whenever they need a new G4.

I don't think Christian leaders are going to fix her, anymore than I think Muslim leaders are going to fix ISIS recruits.

I think they are going to help the people, who are susceptible to such programming, avoid it.

That's what a lot of people say about Obama, y'know.

He's one of the people I had in mind. Along with Clinton. Perhaps H.W. Bush. Nixon.

On Obama you're crazy.

Clinton views himself as worry of worship; he's more of a Hindu or Buddhist, religions where mortals can aspire to become at least a minor God. On Bush, you just need to get to know more Episcopalians. It's understandable you could mistake Episcopalianism for athiesm. Nixon, well, probably more of a Satanist, but we'll never know.

Okay. I'm sure that Obama doesn't think of himself as an atheist. Like any thinking human, I doubt he's terribly far from being agnostic, if at all.

So we're getting a new Speaker

The good news: less crying.

The bad news: almost certainly going to be worse than the old one.

The question: will he (certainly a he, right?) let them go sufficiently crazy that it will overcome the GOPs gerrymandering advantage? Is there a level of crazy with that outcome?

He needs to give one hell of a farewell/fuck you speech. His legacy should be the most epic so long you assholes rant ever.

Now, now. Fundamentalist atheists are probably the most annoying and dangerous of all the fundies.

Annoying, sure. Dangerous? Richard Dawkins has a heck of a long way to go to prove himself as dangerous as your typical faith. (yeah, I know, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot)

But I didn't say he was atheist. I said he's probably not terribly far from being agnostic. As in he'd at least be comfortable saying (privately), "yeah, I don't really know whether there's a god, but I choose to believe anyway."

Anyway, I don't really get the sense that faith and worship are particularly important to him. Which is a compliment.

So Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot were no big deal? Am I going to have to go back to the French Revolution and start working forward on this one?

Sure, if you call everyone who believes in God other than those of Wonk's friends who claim to have recently done a hand-jive with the Father, Son & Holy Ghost down at the bowling alley a "near agnostic", then he's a "near agnostic". You've just defined me as a near agnostic. Probably the Pope, too.

If you call everyone who can parse a syllogism a blackberry mojito, then Obama's also a blackberry mojito. Are you a blackberry mojito?

If you think atheism was their defining feature, you are most definitely a blackberry mojito.

Speaking of the French Revolution, if you like history and podcasts, Revolutions is quite good.

Adder, Adder, Adder.

Parse this through. Logically.

On another topic, is there even a semblance of comedy left to Bill Maher? Why do people still call him a comedian? It's just endless rants about anything Islamic, from a 14 year old kid on. The idea of "Bill Maher comedy" increasingly strikes me as kind of like the idea of "Fox News".

Also, I am finding myself contemplating the day when President Clinton appoints Obama as Chief Justice. I think that's about the only way to beat the joy of a Pope/Obama lovefest. Good times.

That would be cool, but wouldn't it get in the way of his endless million-dollar-per speaking engagements?
