Re: Stuck on Repeats

One problem we have here, is that with Fringey out of action we have nowhere to go with "unattractive or overweight woman" jokes.

I suggest we create a female version of someone, maybe an imaginary identical twin. Sort of like, uh-oh, notbob's overweight identical twin sister went hunting with her Boyfriend.

A good translation of that line would be "I am a college professor in search of a tagline that will get me notoreity/tenure."
Yep. That's her.

Are you flying to Abu Simbel?
Skipping Abu Simbel because I will see enough temples and shit carved into rock that I don't need to sit in a bus 3 hours each way to see it. Did the river exploration thing. Will be shown the High Dam as part of tour today to see the Temple of Philae.

We also skipped Abu simbel, for similar reasons. Would have been a pricey 5am flights, so we skipped it. I regret that a bit because it's supposed to be spectacular. But Philae was the first of many other temples, also relocated, although less spectacularly, in the dam building.

Are you cruising north? My other regret was not having more free time in Luxor, which seemed like it cold be worth a bit more exploring in addition to all the temples and tombs.

But I am of course enjoying every minute of it and have been receiving an education in UK administration law.

PS regarding Game Of Thrones: it's ok, but given what I know about how much ground the show has to cover before actual significant plot events start to, you know, happen, it's gotten to the point that I watch the gazillionth softcore scene and the clock at the same time, knowing that every minute of unwashed medieval ass is a minute less that we'll get to see stuff that we couldn't see on Cinemax at certain hours, were we so inclined.

PPS regarding Chelsea: I hate them and they suck (sorry RT's fella). From their Russian kleptocrat owner, to diving cheat Drogba, to mega-asshole John Terry, to their hordes of come-lately fans following the money, to the history of bigotry and senseless violence still glorified among their longer-serving fans, who attend EDL rallies when not at Stamford Bridge, there is really nothing about them that I don't despise. That said, they got their tactics exactly right and deserved to win against Barcelona, who just couldn't deal with them over the two games. And at least Real lost too. I will be rooting for Ze Germans.

I'm a Barca fan, so loyalties were divided in our household for a week or so, with the puppy delcaring that she's unaffiliated. Fortunately, it was a week where we had other shit to worry about, so tensions were relatively low.

All good and right-thinking people are Barca fans to some degree, and over the last few years they have been a joy to watch and won with style. Unfortunately, I think their era of untouchable brilliance in putting more pedestrian teams to the sword has just about come to an end. They looked a bit lightweight, ineffective and lost in their games against Real and Chelsea, which I guess goes to show that skill beats power except when it can't.

Edited to add: since I know that liking Barcelona is really just the training wheels / gateway drug for people who are interested in football clubs with unusual and interesting histories and social charters, and since you are all sick of hearing me talk about Celtic, I commend to you FC St. Pauli, who currently toil in the second division of the German league, and whose
New York area fan club
are a lot of teutonic fun when we get together to watch games. Barca is Barca, but get yourself a St. Pauli shirt and watch the obscure football team cred just roll right in ...

I'm more of a Messi/Xavi/Pujol fan than anything else. With a strong, possibly unhealthy-to-my-marriage-'cept-for-my-husband-probably-would-feel-the-same-way-if-he-were-gay affinity towards Pep Guardiola (who is leaving immediately or signing a three year deal, depending on which newspaper you happen to google in the last three hours or so). And an admiration for Fabergas. And David Villa's hair.

I think I'm the only person in the state with a Palermo shirt. I like the pink.

I feel bad for him too. And ФК «Динамо» Київ are not known for fun.

But he must have magic moments when he meets another DK supporter, right?

Does he ever meet another DK supporter?
