Re: Election 2010: Teabaggin' the Ds & Rs
Looks like Penske gets to complain about Patty Murray for another six years. And, cue him....

Outrage
I am outraged that Obama is spending $2 billion on this trip to India.
And why is getting 870 rooms at a hotel that only has about 500? I think that's awful - paying for rooms that don't exist. And if it's costing $2 billion, I really think someone must have jacked up the rates. To say nothing of the way we are deploying an aircraft carrier with its operations group of over 30 ships to support his visit- what's that all about? And why can't he just use a normal aircraft carrier group with a dozen or so ships?
This is atrocious. How did this happen? And why is he spending all this money abroad instead of here at home? I think foreign travel should only be allowed when the money is spent here.

" UPDATE 11/4/2010: There have been multiple sources now reporting that are skeptical as to the original claims regarding the amount of money to be spent on President Obama's trip. No credible source is able to cite what actual costs for the trip will be, however. The Whitehouse has stated that the cost numbers are wildly inflated but have cited security reasons for not disclosing an exact figure. Suffice it to say, that the actual amount of money being spent is indeed likely lower than what the Indian Government official originally claimed.
Nontheless, the 3000 member entourage, 40 planes, etc. still are ludicrous and will be exorbitantly expensive in addition to the entire rented Taj Mahal Towers Hotel. The main premise of this posting, that the expenses incurred on this excursion to India that serve no significant U.S. interests immediately following the message sent by the American people after Tuesday's elections still strikes one as being politically tone deaf. The spending of what will still amount to many hundreds of millions of dollars regardless does not strike one as being very fiscally warranted or prudent, accordingly."
Perhaps the Indian Official meant 200 million Rupees? About 4,500,000 USD? That seems about right, no?
Of course, many won't acknowledge the Rupee for fear that discussing it will imply their assent to the USD being replaced as the world's reserve currency.

What do Senators care about more than anything else? Re-election, no?
What do many repubs threaten every time a R Senator goes off the reservation? A well-funded, Fox-promoted, primary challenge from the right, no?
So, not mind control, but job security control.

And don't forget the aircraft carrier! And all the boats!
I heard this on Fox, which is fair and balanced. And, remember, we have no significant US interests involved in India. Or the G20. Or Indonesia. He's just going there to visit a mosque anyways, and he can do that at Ground Zero!

If Fox acknowledges a currency other than the USD/GBP/EUR, outside of financial reporting, doesn't Roger change their salary to be paid that currency?

And which of them would have been amenable to compromise on HCR, for example? The two Mainers, sure, but they don't fit into "untouchable".
And, of course, the most untouchable are in states where the proper scorched earth right-flank primary attack might (*might*) work. Think the Fox + Club for Growth + TP + Rush machine couldn't paint (eg) the Alabama senators as communists for compromising on HCR? They've all certainly said enough stupid stuff over the years that, taken out of context, could be used against them, in combination with the heresy.

Hi, Hank! Yes, those untouchable Senators in safe districts like, say, Murkowski in Alaska or Bennett in deep red Utah? Don't worry, Hank, I understand you're untouchable. Penske told me that's what your wife said!

btw, I'm of the view that, had a group (more than 2, likely more than 5) of R senators actually been interested in working on the best possible HCR bill, we would have wound up with a better bill. But the R caucus was more interested in damaging the Ds than in helping the country. They didn't even have an honest critique of why the country, as a whole, would be worse off with some sort of HCR--not necessarily the D version, but something--nor did they have actual, good faith, proposals paired with an explanation of why their ideas were better (except: No Death Panels and No Cuts to Medicare, both of which are bugs, not features).
Kind of like where they stand on the budget right now.
There is one thing Boehner could do to change my mind that he's a do-nothing, over-tanned, nicotine-stained twat-->propose the wholesale repeal of Medicare Part D. And if the House passed it, I'd genuinely believe there's a *chance* the Rs are serious with their budget/deficit rhetoric.

I've been waiting for 4 years for some of the D leadership to ask why the Rs hate America and American values. Still waiting.

Yeh, right, thus losing Florida and any chance of getting a real tan instead of that orange stuff he's wearing.
There is only one way to fix the deficit, and that is to cut taxes. The American people want the deficit to be fixed through tax cuts, so that is what the Rs will do.

But isn't about what's best for America, not about winning votes or power or keeping Saul supplied with Viagra so he can keep spreading the clap around Del Boca Vista? I thought the Rs were the TRU Patriots.

That is why they are going to make sure Obama doesn't spent $2 billion for a vacation in India and a pilgrimage to a Mosque. Because they love America!
And if Saul does give your grandma the clap, no worries - she just needs to get down and get some of that there Medicare penicillan! Win-win!
More drugs! Less taxes!
