Do you think our current arsenal is substantially degrading? How do you think it is degrading? How much do you think we're spending now? What do you think Kyl wants to spend money on?

Well, then let me ask your opinion: do you think we need to substantially improve delivery systems on our nuclear weapons? To upgrade warheads? Should we be preparing for nuclear tests regardless of negotiated moratoriums?
Given the budget climate, and expected widespread cuts, do you think it makes sense to double what we spend maintaining nukes? Triple it? Quintuple it? Where would you take the money from?

If that's what you're advocating, you should be very upset with Kyl.

Yes, if one is an apologist. I'm willing to admit Bush fucked up, and I bear some responsibility for having voted for him. twice (otoh, knowing what I know now would not have inspired me to vote for Gore or Kerry, respectively-I would have written myself in, regardless of Article II, Section 1). It would be nice if the unrepentant Ds would apologise in like course when one of their criminals has wronged all of us.....

It won't pass the new Senate on 1/1. Waiting a month and a half = waiting at least a year as new hearings are held and each new idiot is briefed.

I would like to apologize for Rangel, and also for sometimes reading those anti-Bush bumper stickers when I saw them on cars.

And, apparently, for being a tailgater.

Wait, one apology for Bush and you think all is forgiven.
To be clear, I apologize for Rangel, and hope he will be punished. I apologize for Clinton's taste in women, but nothing else. I am happy to apologize for the Studds and Frank episods of a couple decades ago. And, those mayors in Detroit and Washington - they really sucked, too. Oh, and Byrd's KKK shit fifty years ago, that stunk to high heaven. If I forgot a couple, throw them in - who was that Ways & means chair back in the 70s?
Now, Penske, let's get your apologies on the record for the last fifty years of Republican scandals - we won't go back to Byrd-land, but maybe you could start with Nixon and Agnew and roll forward from there. Don't forget DeLay, Gingrich, and the John who just got reelected.
Most of all, don't forget to apologize for Hank. You've got an awful lot to answer for.

You forget the Kennedy family.
Also, I disclaim responsibility (i) during the Clinton years (through 1999) as I left the Rs for Perot during that period (although actually I mostly gave up on politics and major professional sports during that period to focus on my triathlon career, and only came back to politics and the Rs in 2000); and (ii) after 2006 when I left party politics for independent moderateness for good.

Sorry, post-2006 you're still responsible for Hank.
Don't forget to get the check in for your piece of the Bush deficit.
