Yes, indeed.

I think we're substantially better off with outcome based incentives; I'd love to accerlate them, but understand we probably don't have the metrics yet to do this effectively. If you're firing the folks who set up the long phase-outs, don't forget to give a bonus to the ones who got outcome based incentives, elimination of pre-existing conditions, and barring of lifetime caps through. Those are all significant improvements to the system.

No pain no gain. Kids today are being raised in an environment of wussification and need a little toughening up. Strip searches sound like a good place to start.

You that the airlines have almost nothing to do with 1 these days, right?

And yes, I'm aware that it was largely Dems who wanted the government to take over airport security.

Is there any industry in which you do not have deep, penetrative and exhaustive expertise?

The most disappointing element is the same sex searching. Shouldn't one get their choice?

I can vouch for him on this one. He does indeed have significant industry expertise.

My buddy thinks TSA should hire strippers for this. Talk about long lines . . .

2! I would much rather be touched by a lady of any level of attractiveness than by a guy.*

*For Cletus: The hypothetical guy's sexual orientation is irrelevant to this preference.

I'm trusting that Penske will have a more entertaining retort.

Oh, I'm very troubled by that -- I will no longer be able to sneak drugs through the airport in my son's pants.

I saw that video. It seems a bit much to have a young boy remove his shirt for a pat-down. But I'm not assuming it was "just wrong," and I think people need to tone down the hysteria over this.

Tax expenditures and Simpson/Bowles

Greg Mankiw had a good column that makes me slightly more open to some of the Simpson/Bowles proposals.

Meanwhile, I was not terribly impressed with Brad DeLong's response, which ignores the key consideration of proportion.

I understand that the TSA is not related to the airlines, yes.

and I am not taking a partisan shot in any of it. I don't fault the concept (i.e. the legislators intent), its the execution I have problems with.

Yes, actually most.

Once upon a time I knew a bit of politics (as opposed to governance), but my experience is passed the expiration date.

Same with the film/TV industry.

Same with triathlon.

Currently, I would narrow the industries I have deep penetrative, day to day hands on experience as:

-healthcare (only because that's by and large the only industry I have worked in for the last 12 years at about 3000 hour/year level).

-elementary/middle school education (I have spent an average of about 50 hours/month, in my off work time, over the last 6 years, working in education, private and public).

-Also, I probably know enough about sex to qualify as a semi-pro

Is that outable?

2. For this, I blame the Ds.
