Could have spared the board the spectacle of Ty arguing with Hank over whether and how one might shoot down a ballistic missile using an air to air missile.
I would have just assumed it was possible because it was one piece of the so-called "Star Wars" plan at least as of the 1990s.

btw, the link cites al Jazeera. I'm impressed that they have the resources to have found this out, and the courage to print something about a US military success. If it weren't for W, al Jazeera wouldn't exist.

Re: My God, you are an idiot.
Better leadership from Obama could have prevented this earthquake.

Obama wanted it to be a 3.4 earthquake, but Congressional Republicans wanted it to be 5.9, so Obama compromised at 5.9.

We didn't have any big earthquakes when W was President, and the ones we did have were Clinton's fault.

This reminded me of Bourdain's Beirut show. He was stuck there during the 2006 Israel / Lebanon war as other countries got their nationals out, and Bush did ... well, to quote:
Quote:
|
What is clear -- as far as we're concerned -- from all sources is that there is no official, announced plan. No real advice, or information, or public exit strategy or timetable. The news clip of President Bush, chawing open-mouthed on a buttered roll, then grabbing at another while Tony Blair tries to get him to focus on Lebanon -- plays over and over on the TV, crushing our spirits and dampening all hope with every glassy-eyed mouthful. He seems intent on enjoying his food; Lebanon a tiny, annoying blip on an otherwise blank screen. I can't tell you how depressing that innocuous bit of footage is to watch. That one, innocent, momentary preoccupation with a roll has a devastating effect on us that is out of all proportion. We're looking for signs. And this, sadly, is all we have.

In a Hank Chinaski administration you will always know where you stand.

2. I mean, someone who goes to Beirut to film a TV show in 2006 really doesn't get to complain about how anyone else was stupid or failed to anticipate world events.

whifferoooski,
but, honestly, do you think Bourdain's choice of Beirut wasn't made in part by the edge of the potential danger. you don't think he was going for a bit of "holy shit, this guy is so fucking brave?" Fuck him.

With you, I always wish you would say more. You have penchant for saying something cryptic and leaving off.
Hank used to do that. Now he just rarely says anything remotely coherent (aside from his astute ballistic missile analysis, that is).
ETA: We've really been short on good Sebby rants lately. I guess he's too busy predicting the imminent Thunderdome, Obama's re-election and how the Rs are playing to retake the Senate this time (huh?).

Honestly, I don't have the time, and its usually not worth my time, to fully explain/develop arguments. This place has gotten really bad the last 6 months or so. It used to be that there was a wide range of views and positions. Now there is basically 1, with Hank and I taking pot shots for shits and giggles.
