He's likable enough to do well with a thing like this. Were Cheney (who actually might support the killing of pets) to try this, it would not be interpreted so well.

(I also happen to think it's the right thing to do, and think Vick received a penalty above what he deserved. Causes me to feel an affinity for Obama. I'm no apologist for Vick's abhorrent crime, but the guy's certainly done a damn good job of proving a man's better than his worst moment. And no - I am not an Eagles fan.)

Think of all the non-relatives you know who make $60,000/year. Now think of how many of them to whom you'd entrust your child. The intersection of those two sets is "teacher," and we're doing pretty fucking good with what we have, considering the very low quality of some of the raw materials -- about the same number of people graduate H.S. capable of reading as every previous year. The nations that perennially beat us in math/science assessments are ones that leave their crack babies chained to rocks.
as a parent, I for one think most pub ed is fine. you mix in a bit of parent involvement, cross your fingers for drug use to be limited to leafy shit that burns, and you move em out to college.

I am very concerned about schools in poor areas that don't have the parental involvement. this is the true problem since we cripple tons of kids every year.

but I was only posting because big brain bothered to post something where a guy compared someone's incentive plan to a "salesman of the month" where the best teacher gets picked for dollars. this is so clearly a pablum for the teacher's unions and, unless the proposed plan in question was written in crayon, beneath any thinking person's garbage filter.

As to performance incentives, truth is the 50 "best teachers" in most states, under many standards, will all likely be in schools that don't need help anyway.

and as to your friend, when I think of her, and I want to, I'll need to know hair color and what she looked for in deciding which students to fuck. please reply and be mindful of the 3 hour time difference.

I can't believe we let that group of Nazis have the keys to the country. does the book finally lock down who is responsible for Gitmo being open for business and destroying our personal liberties?

hey, wait a minute.

Regardless of where one stands on Vick, or how bad a poster child he is for "give a rehabilitated felon a second chance," this was a stupid PR move. There is only downside from people who don't like dog torturers.

that's what normal young people who voted for Obama think of how you have "changed" the Government. I hope your kids step out into a world where things are better.

As you know, I love the way that TSA does its job now. So thanks for sharing.

eta: Not to mention the authorities in New Zealand, not that I've been there recently.

then why do you dwell about a past president who you complained about daily for 8 years already instead of posting about how the current president maintained 85% of the shit you complained about?

serious question. I want to learn how to be substantive like you.

I don't think I had thought about George W. Bush for several days, and then I followed someone's tweet to that review and liked it. (The parts about the book, anyway -- the parts about his presidency were just tired.) If I am dwelling on W., then you need psychiatric help for your cyberstalking of Ironweed.

eta: Thank you for helping me to understand that your only serious questions are apparently labeled as such.

That intersection only works if you choose to send your kids to public school, i.e. you choose to entrust your kids to certain people. The poor don't have that choice, and are at the mercy of whomever the Union sends us and protects at all costs. Sad that you and some of the other big brains here are so hellbent on oppressing and marginalising the least amongst us, but, to give you credit, the teachers' unions who do your bidding are doing a hellavu job at destroying our nation's youth.
