Facts are funny, funny things. Especially when you ignore them.

Huh? My recollection is that they stayed the same. In the campaign they were "giving people their money back" but by the time to pass them they were "stimulus."
Also, what Cletus said is that they ended up costing more than expected because the economy performed worse than projected at the time of enactment. That sounds about right to me (from memory).

That doesn't make any sense. If the economy performed worse, people earned less money, and there was less to tax, so they would have cost less than expected. The budget hole might have been more than expected, but not the cost of the tax cuts. Which is, I think, what club was saying.

It would be secondary market selling of securities issued by the treasury, not SSTF bonds.
That is, the trust funds (multiple) are "invested" in special issues from the Treasury that are only available to the funds. I assume that means these issues can't be sold to the public, but that is an assumption. But the sales Cletus is referring to would be of those securities (full faith and credit and all).

Right. Sorry. Budget hole was more than expected.

Almost Forgot
I'm watching last night's Daily Show, and apologies to whoever it is has the relevant fetish, but Gillibrand is actually hot. I had previously been a skeptic.

That is based on the assumption that Jimmy McMillan isn't seriously running, because, as we all know the real problem in this country is that the rent is *still* too damn high.

I think Daniels might be interesting, although the hoosier thing is sort of off putting to me (my first wife and her family were hoosiers), but, regional prejudices aside, for now, outside of Obama, who may still have my vote, I have to put former NM governor Gary Johnson on the top of my R list. From what I know of him, and I have met him a few times, he makes sense, no crazy right wing shit. He's done Kona multiple times, maddd propps there (I will always give the benefit of the doubt to those Kona finishers). And he suppourts the maryjane. Sounds good to me.

I need to see more, but from what I've seen so far I'm all for Dick Hoyt.

No. But I am ready to officially declare her way hotter than Palin. Which is nice (for us Ds).

He's a nice guy, but I wouldn't vote for him for anything. I might hire him for something, but it wouldn't be PotUS.

Me? You may not have heard, but I'm rarely allowed near them.
I hear Penske knows Atticus's sister though.

He and his devotion to his son are downright amazing and truly inspiring.
But yeah, that doesn't mean I'd vote for him.

If you saw Aasif Mandvi's bit on San Francisco and Happy Meals on Monday, you may be surprised to learn that it took Gavin Newsom 20 takes to not laugh when Mandvi told him he was really good looking - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...BAI01H432O.DTL .
