The three-way race in AK has gotten very close.
Sebby, a third category is "throw the bums out." That anyone, stupid or not, needs to replace entrenched Washington. Too bad we can't replace Obama with David Cameron.

Also, if there is no god or afterlife, and this is it, and I think the left is more on board with science than the nutz on the religious right are, then why I do care? I may as well enjoy the hell out of things now, the rest of you MFs be damned, cuz when its over, its over. Let the next generation fight about with their RedChinese overlords.
I may stop paying taxes altogether......

This is a variation on Heinlein's proposal, which I have previously mentioned with approval, that a voter has to solve a quadratic equation before being allowed to vote.

I'm okay with letting dummies vote, but elites, like us, should regulate the intelligence of those ruling us. Self-regulation, iykwim.

How can you say she doesn't have traction? She won the nomination.

This is what happens when we leave the production of news to a for-profit, double-sided market that gets its revenue from advertisers.

I don't disagree with any of this. But my point was, not that long ago she would have been laughed off the stage, ignored on any ballot and wouldn't have been taken seriously enough to have won the nomination anywhere. And this is the direction in which we are headed. It no longer matters whether you understand the issues--in fact, you can be completely ignorant on all of them. What matters now is whether a moron can identify with you enough to pray with you. And that's the Bush-->Palin legacy. How far will this go? Will that jackass in Alaska win the Senate while refusing to answer one question and handcuffing reporters who try to get him to answer questions?

Stop playing word games. You just established that rent is too damn high. Let's move on.

Actually, IIRC, I think that O'Donnell won the Republican primary in 2008, and got stomped by Biden in the general. wiki

She has traction for loser status and a well paid talking head/speech gig. I agree with ty, if what he is saying is that she has no traction for elected office. Do you disagree?

Please... Is there any serious person who doubts the average IQ of an 18-25 Obama voter isn't within 5 points of the average Bush/Palin voter? There were many smart Obama voters, but just as many deluded, DailyKos-shucking, naive, goofy kids in that pool. The guy's only president because he managed to congeal followers via social media. Read any brilliant shit on Facebook lately?
The Tea Party attracts dumb regressive garbage. The Left wing of the Democratic party attracts dumb progressive garbage. Pick one, pick the other... who cares? The distinctness of equivalent stupidities is like categorizing shit based on whether it sinks or floats. Either way, the ultimate destination is the sewer.

there is some truth in this. Most of the far left progressivists whom I see here in Seattle are extremely well educated (and hemp clad), usually Masters level degrees at the least and for most of them, they should demand a refund from the universities that they went to.
At least the dummies on the right can claim lack of post-hs education as a defense. And their HS education was probably public, and so, worthless at that.

I'm not focused on voters, but candidates, and the R candidates are trending steadily and rapidly downward. The Pallinization of the Republican Party is not a good thing, and there is no equivalent trend on the Democratic side.
Your comparison is, of course, utter bullshit. But, more importantly, it's irrelevant.

I'll take equity in personal injury cases because they pay off down the road. Contract cases with no insurance coverage? I wouldn't touch contingent comm lit with a ten foot poll. Same applies to tax issues. Calculate it in your head. There might be future costs associated with taking all you can today. And there might not be. No one knows for certain, as it is a prognostication of the "dismal science." The rational thought, the micro-level time value of money argument that matters most, is grab all you can and try to beat a return out of it exceeding all reasonably projected future tax burdens.
You might be wrong. But you're wrong now with cash in hand, and in times like this, anyone arguing against front-loading and hoarding has lost his fucking mind.

If you ran a business, you would not pay current expenses on credit just because you could, on the chance that some you might not have to pay the bill. It's no way to run a business, or a country.
