Trouble. And especially the notion of a cover of Comfortably Numb. On paper, it is a train wreck. Or, for angry west coast monkeys, an abortion. Except Flinty. Flinty would not say something is an "abortion." Unless it were an abortion, non-metaphorically speaking, of course. And even then, he would try to come up with some more polite way of saying it. Like he would call it a "procedure" or something. But not Muggs. He has a computer problem? It's an abortion. His car has a flat tire? It's an abortion. His secretary uses too much teeth? Abortion. Anyhoo, despite everything written here so far, the Bad Plus do a cover of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb that was fantastic live. With vocals, even. I will be purchasing their upcoming CD on the strength of this tune alone. You people should go see the Bad Plus because it is jazz and will make you classy, but they do covers of Pink Floyd and the Pixies and a mean cover of Iron Man and you will like that, because you will laugh while secretly really enjoying it because you love the song Iron Man.
Dar Williams (with backing vocals from Ani DiFranco!) does a cover of Comfortably Numb. It is not a trainwreck -- perhaps you have heard it on "Acoustic Estrogen" on Sirius/XM?

eta: maybe Shape Shifter is a granola-crunching lesbian IRL.

Intel and the one before 2008. I was considering upgrading to avoid the issues, but figured if I was going to switch software, I'd just go native and run mail.app and ical

I heard it on Youtube. Just now. Well, most of it. It is not a train wreck. That is all I will say about it. Holiday season and all that. I prefer Shifter's acoustic reggae version, although the image of Shifter with those white dude dreads is a bit discomforting. I'm sure he was able to pull it off, though. (Holiday season, holiday season.)

Also I love the Godzilla song.......Oh no, they say hes got to go.....Go go godzilla, yeah. I have a mix tape, I think that's what the kids call it. It has many versions and remixes of the Godzilla and the Iron Man. I'd like to Mash them up, but I don't have the madd tech skillz. Anyhoo, I'm listening to the mix now. And did i mention, my corner office is 420 friendly in the O. nine. Also in the last days of the O. eight. Tea time in Holland, iykwim. I. AM. IRON. MAN.

You really are too kind. On the same album, her cover of Neil Young's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is much better, as covers go. (Marshall Crenshaw is on guitar and back-up vocals.)

As for Shifter, his law school classmate sent me this snap:

I have not shaved in about a week and there's no sleep til the New Year at this point. Is this the Jesus look in for the OhNine? I am thinking about it although I am not sure how the soul patch will feel being surrounded by all that other hair.

Pool Skating: Greenspan's Gift

Skate Rats are major fans of the housing bust, or rather all the empty houses with pools available for skating. One comments, "God bless Greenspan. Patron saint of pool skating." http://skateandannoy.com/

Re Floyd, a neat little nugget:

It's genius as is, but I often wonder, "How amazing might Gilmour sound if he actually tried?"

It's impossible to truly train wreck the song anymore as Van Morrison did that for the ages at the end of Waters' famous "My Ego is Terminal" show, mainly known by its American release title, "The Wall Live in Berlin."

Demon rummies.

It must be true that alcohol precipitates violence, because I want desperately to punch absolutely everyone who had anything to do with this article. Including all of the people in the slideshow.

Oh, no. I guess you hadn't heard - Sidd designed the Breakfast Fizz currently being served at the Clock Bar.

This is going to be so awkward.

Speaking of alcohol and violent impulses, is anyone else still working this year? I am not drinking tonight, or tomorrow and I am angry about it. I have about 100 billable hours of work to finish before year end. Wednesday I'LL probably pass out looking at a drink from lack of sleep.

Oh the humanity! Happy new YeaR!
