 It's a cheap luxury.  What's a top-flight 25 year old scotch - maybe $20 a drink?  $30? 
That's not much for something extraordinary, even if it doesn't last that long.
Adder, take the money you save on shoes and enjoy a good scotch once a week.  I'll bet your wife notices the difference.
