I am no longer a GA, so money is an object.
On men, I prefer spread collar and barrel cuffs because they look chic without trying too hard. Fitted, of course.

I know this may earn me more opprobrium from the board, but you might consider getting tailor made shirts. They can be less expensive than buying off the rack. My most money conscious lawyer friend gets them done locally and we're a provincial backwater. Any real city should have many options.

Barring that, I have to second Icky Thump's Brooks Brothers and Nordstrom suggestions. I have worn BB myself and I was always impressed with the fabric quality and long-term wearability. Many of my friends rave about the Nordstrom brand quality. While I've never worn them (except perhaps home), they have great buyers and their stuff is always priced well.
