Just like when Canadians get mad when only people from the U.S. are described as Americans. Right, gwnc?
 |
Why would the Canadians get mad about that? I mean, we live in America. It's the A in the US of A! Anyway, these days, the Canadians get more upset when they are described as Americans. The whole "less likely to get kidnapped while traveling abroad" thing has given our neighbors to the north the one thread of superiority to cling to that they have needed for years.

Agreed, you superbly cite the rationale for my frequent touting of my honourary Canadian citisenship (conferred in 1995, by the by). Bravo old chap! Well played indeed.

It makes it seem like Canada is our child, whereas I like to think of Canada as the quirky, inebriated cousin. You know, not someone you'd want around all the time, but fun at weddings and helpful when you need to score a little weed.
