He is. Being from NYC, I'm not exactly thrilled about our direction in terms of defense, but Melo is a stone cold scorer with ice water in his veins.

By the way, D'Antoni is gone in a year and a half if we lose our next two playoff series in a string of 128-123 type playoff game losses.

So, you think the 'melo trade was mainly to reshape the team for D'Antoni? Rather than a Dolan + Walsh plan, regardless of coach?

And, that team ain't hanging 120+ on the Bulls more than twice in 7, unless guys get hurt.

the knicks should try to get ben wallace and/or Rip, both of which we'd give up easily- Ben would bring a Defense mindset and rip can still help ala old reggie.

more importantly, then i could totally become a knick fan

No. I think we went for the best player we could get (who clearly wanted to play in NY) after losing out on LeBron. Would have went for him if VanGundy was our coach.

True. But the comment was more about our lack of defense under D'Antoni than how awesome we will be at scoring. In my eyes, it was a best case scenario for a D'Antoni-coached team.

That said, I'll take my chances against anyone if we somehow bring in Paul or Williams in 2012. And yes, I know that's a pipe dream. But I believe Paul has already discussed the idea with our big two.

Do you think the NBA cuts off all the players' ability to collude? Or maybe they introduce a concept to keep players from being able to opt out so easily?

as I predicted, chauncey is showing himself an equal to the "big two" if not the best player on the team.

the thing with Carmelo, and AS for that matter, you can't tell much about a player when he is playing on a lesser team- let's see how those two can do on a great team.

Edit because they were on decent teams before

I'm still Pistons blinded, but until D'Antoni wins I have to believe a team with his "defense" cannot win.

Hold on, I'm from NY too and standing under the basket, waiting to take the ball out once the other team has it and is ready to shoot doesn't qualify as "defense."

Re: Lamest k race win ever

You know the old theory how athletes shouldn't fuck before games since it'll screw up their performance? Tiger woods has pretty much destroyed that one?

Ah, but if you look at his performaance after the story broke, you realize the actual rule is that one shouldn't get caught fucking before a big game.
