California's new anti revenge porn law is a great example of well meaning idiocy. How is the state going to prove a photo was uploaded with the intent of revenge? And to the extent it may be intent-neutral (strict liability), how will it not violate the First Amendment?
I think the courts are pretty clear on the First Amendment not being license to share other peoples' secrets any time you get pissed off. I'm sure if some guy posted a video of the smile on his face as he comes in an ex-girlfriend's Dixie cup it would be protected by the First Amendment. I don't see how the First Amendment protects his right to post video of her Dixie cup.

Unless streaming video is also sent to DC_Chef@lawtalkers.com.

The school has a zero tolerance policy on internet bullying, and I've seen it enforced. And last year, when my kid was the subject of a hate instagram account (I can't even believe there is such a thing, or that it happened to a 10 year old), the school was front and center in dealing with it.

Well, that, and I hate poor people.
It doesn't have to be a private school, at least not for most students. A school district that requires students to sign an honor and conduct code to participate in school activities can accomplish the same thing.

And if it's off campus, the school does nothing. FWIW, you're not alone. When I raised a similar issue about a year ago, there were others here who said schools have no authority to address behavior off-campus even where there's a demonstrated school impact. None of those people have really thought through what to do in a world where a student posts "Some people at school deserve what they're going to get tomorrow" on Facebook and everyone skips school for the next day, week, or month.
Quite frankly, given the world we live in, skipping school the next day maks perfect sense to me. Of course, so does a visit from the police to the poster's home, a talk with parents, and perhaps execution of a search warrant for weapons.

I believe it was Diane Keaton.

Yeah, it was Diane Keaton. I can't remember if it was this site or the predecessor site (or even one of the interim sites), but I don't remember having to deal with the fallout, so it was probably before I took over the back end stuff on the board.

It was a pretty damned funny incident though.

Found it. His name was RJ and he created a login called Justicehere. Diane went back and deleted the original links so I don't know if he's still wooking pa nub.

I remember this incident, but missed the ppnyc flameout. She got so annoying I left as she wouldn't STFU. I checked my User CP and she is still there as the only one I think I have ever had on ignore.

This stroll down memory lane is making me recall all sorts of fun events, like the time I got pissed at Slave about something back when he was 4ysI created a sock, stealing his 5ys moniker, and then months later Chef asked me if I would give it to him and I totally forgot I had even done so. Good times.

That episode was very entertaining but involved stupidity of all involved, with such a degree of difficulty, that I suspected at the time that Edwardian Twit, and Diane (and other random and unrelated characters like ThrashersFan) were all socks.

I always thought ThrashersFan was Chef in drag.

Actually, you can share anything anyone sends you if you're pissed off because, when they send it to you, it's not private anymore.

If I send a lurid selfie to a gf and she and I later break up and she posts it online, I can't claim invasion of privacy. That only applies if she steals it or clandestinely makes a copy.
